VMRS Champion McKennedy to be Feted Saturay Night
Canaan, NH. — Jon McKennedy, of East Chelmsford, MA, will be crowned champion Saturday night, November 19, when the Valenti Modified Racing Series holds it’s 13th annual banquet at the Yard Restaurant, in Manchester, NH.
Driving his family’s #29 Modified EXIT Realty / Christopher’s Towing Chevrolet, McKennedy grabbed 9 wins in VMRS action; allowing him to cruise to a dominant point’s title; his fourth in eight seasons.
Though the season was great for the Bay State racer, he’s come close to equaling its success before. In 2009 he put together a season that captured plenty of attention.
Entering his very first touring Series in a Modified, McKennedy combined race wins with top-ten finishes to capture the True Value Modified Series Championship. In 2010, showing it was no lucky thing; he grabbed the title again.
In 2012, McKennedy jumped behind the wheel of NASCAR Hall of Fame car owner Art Barry’s modified. The duo handily won the Valenti Modified Racing Series title.
McKennedy has now won 4 VMRS Championships and, at present, sits 2nd on the all-time win list with 24 victories.
McKennedy spoke about the championship run this week and his success at other sanctioned races.” Lots of work spending nearly every night in the shop but it’s been very special because of my guys and girls stepping-up too. Everyone was all-in and helping any way they could.”
McKennedy furthered, “We ran the same Race Works Chassis in every event, Eddie Flemke worked with me and provided great support – perfect feedback to each issue or idea.
In addition to the series champion, the top 14-point men will be recognized.
The series annual special awards will be presented to include the Sunoco Racing Award, Hoosier Tire East Award, the 7-11 Award, Top Rookie Award, and Sportsmanship Award.
The Yard Restaurant is located at 1211 South Mammoth Road, Manchester, NH.
Doors open at 4:30 PM. Dinner served at 6:00 P.
