ATQMRA Season Opener Close at Hand, Announces VP as Official Fuel of the ATQMRA

March 27, 2017; The American Three Quarter Midget Racing Association partnered with VP Racing Fuels making them the Official Fuel Supplier of the ATQMRA. The organization’s season opening race at Mahoning Valley Speedway is only two weeks away on Easter Eve Saturday April 15th. An aggressive 17 race schedule will bring the lightning fast TQ Midgets to 7 tracks in 4 states including a long-awaited return to the Historic Riverhead Speedway and the Chemung Speedrome. An even dozen of the races will be wingless. A highlight on the schedule is the Club’s weekend at Pocono International Raceway in conjunction with the Classic Racing Times and the Verizon IndyCar Series.

VP Racing Fuel will be the official fuel of the ATQMRA. The organization will be using VP’s popular C12 product as its spec fuel. Teams are being Given until the June 3 race at Riverhead to transition to the new Spec fuel. C12 is has been the spec fuel of choice at the Sammon’s Indoor series races for several years and most teams are already using it. The ATQMRA will have fuel on hand at its events for any TQ team needing fuel. The club is working closely with VP to be able to ensure teams are using the spec fuel.

Saturday Night April 15th is the season opening race for the ATQMRA at Lehighton. Pa’s Mahoning Valley Speedway. Last season’s opening race at Wall Stadium was won by Geoffrey Sutton who followed his win up with a second-place finish to 2016 Champion Matt Janisch. All of the teams will head into Mahoning Valley looking to park their mounts in Victory lane.

The ATQMRA has a strong 17 race schedule appearing at 7 tracks in four states with the season culminating at Wall Stadium’s annual Turkey Derby and five other shows on the track’s flat inner oval. A dozen of the organization’s races will be run wingless. Each of the races at Wall Bethel, Chemung Pocono and Riverhead will be run without the wing. The 3 shows at Mahoning Valley as well as the pair at Waterford Speedbowl will be winged races.

The ATQMRA Makes its long-awaited return to Long Island’s Riverhead Speedway on Saturday June 3 for the Pete Petraitis Memorial Race that will be a Tribute to the “Bad Guys” of which Pete was the head. The organization saw fit to revive the Petraitis Memorial that was a tribute to one of the great car owners and a true gentleman who was always a strong supporter of the ATQMRA fielding enough cars to comprise their own heat race at many nights and winning their fair share of races and Championships across the years.

The ATQMRA is working closely with Gary Mondschein’s Classic Racing Times to bring Midget racing back to the grounds of Pocono Raceway in conjunction with Mondschein’s Vintage Indy car event at Pocono as a support division for the IndyCar race the weekend of August 18 and 19th. Early registrations are coming in as teams are anxiously anticipating the opportunity to race at Pocono Raceway on at temporary fifth mile oval laid out on the pit out end of the front straight away. This is a can’t miss event. One driver will have the opportunity to win the first ever TQ midget race at Pocono and have their name added to the record books.

Bethel Speedway will host a pair of TQ races on May 20th and July 15th. The cars sported wings at Bethel for the last several years at but this year the races will be run wingless putting drivers and crews to the test to figure out how to go fast around the track’s quarter mile oval.

The ATQMRA’s return to the Waterford Speedbowl in 2016 was such a rousing success the organization was invited back for two events in 2017. Both races will feature the TQ’s with their car top wings.

Chemung Speedrome in the southern Tier of New York will once again host the lightning fast TQ midgets. The last race run at Chemung was won by Buddy Sload in wingless competition. The return to the high banks of Chemung will happen on Saturday night July 29th.
