INEX Ends Waterford Sanction
INEX announced it has terminated the sanctioning agreement with New London-Waterford (CT) Speedbowl. INEX sanctioned two divisions at the 1/3-mile oval last season. The INEX Bandoleros have competed since 2009. Talon Prinze is the reigning champion.
The U.S. Legend Cars have been a staple at the track since 2001, featured in their regular Wednesday and occasional Saturday programs. Noah Korner and Kyle Rogers were the most recent champions.
INEX is still sanctioning U.S. Legend Cars races at Thompson (CT) Speedway Motorsports Park’s road course.
Waterford attempted the first U.S. Legends Cars Asphalt Nationals in New England. The October 6-8 event was rained out.
NASCAR announced this morning it dropped Waterford’s July 22 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race and the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series sanctioning.
The decisions come after track owner Bruce Bemer was arrested March 28. He has been charged with patronizing a trafficked person. The Glastonbury, CT resident purchased the track in October 2014 at auction.
