Claremont: One to Go – Newport Chevrolet Night W/ Cody Lafont Memorial Twin 25’s
7/20/2017 — After a scheduled week off for Loudon, we settle in for the heat of the summer with Newport Chevrolet Buick GMC Night. Our title sponsor will be on hand with several vehicles for what is shaping up to be an action-packed night of racing. They will also be raffling off a Big Deal Plus which includes 3 years of maintenance and other great benefits – a $ 2,470 value.
The Casella Modifieds are back as well, last running on June 9th when Dana Smith held off a charging Dwight Jarvis to grab his 2nd win of the season. Smith leads Prospect, CT’s Nick Salva by 26 points heading into tomorrow night’s event.
Jack McClay became the first repeat winner in the R.E. Hinkley Super Streets leading the final 19 laps last time out. Dylan Bodreau and the “Original” Craig Smith rounded out the podium. Rookie Chris Colburn led all 25 laps in the Pepsi Limited Sportsman feature to pick up his first career victory. David Greenslit made his return to the track a memorable one as he finished 2nd while “Hot Stuff” Kenny Thompson was 3rd.

Storylines for the Week
- Born to be Wild – With essentially 2 feature events rolled up into one big payday, things may be a bit chaotic for the 4-cylinders this week. If all 24 eligible drivers compete as well, it could make for an extremely exciting racing as the most they have fielded this year is 15 in one race.
- Limitless – 10 Limited Sportsman were on-hand on July 7 with word there will be a couple more in attendance on Friday. This is a great division with 5 different winners in 6 races.
- “Mod”ern Family – With the duplication of Modified Touring divisions this year, both tours happen to be running on Friday night. All indications are we should still have a double-digit field. Their Twin 30 event is August 4 which should have a great field of cars.
Next week the Northeast Classic Lites visit the speedway for some great racing action. Our Super Streets, Limited Sportsman, and Wildcat divisions round out the race card.
