Sportsman Added to Rescheduled US Pro Stock National Championship
SEEKONK, Mass. – The Seekonk Speedway has announced an addition to the 2nd annual US Pro Stock/Super Late Model Nationals, which is scheduled for next Wednesday, July 19. The race was originally planned for July 12, but shortly after practice sessions concluded, rain postponed the action and forced track officials to reschedule.
Adding to the already action-packed schedule, the Seekonk Saturday night Sportsman division will compete in a 30-lap feature worth $1,000 to win. The race will be contested under weekly track rules with a total purse up for grabs worth over $3,000. The race is expected to draw a full field of cars to chase the added prize money.
The Sportsman division has continued to impress this season, with three and sometimes even four-wide racing around the third-mile oval on a weekly basis. The division has seen multiple drivers visit Victory Lane, including former champions Scott Serydynski Sr. and Sparky Arsenault. At the top of the current point standings is defending champion Scott Bruneau.
The INEX Legend Cars will also be in action on Wednesday, with a 25-lap feature worth $500 to sit in Victory Lane. Weekly Seekonk Legend competitors including Ryan Kuhn, Josh Parsons, Joe Marfeo and Brandon Martinez are set for action and outsiders heading to Seekonk Speedway looking to leave with the cash will join them. The total purse of the race has hit upwards of $2,000.
The 200 lap Pro Stock/Super Late Model feature has a $10,000 prize on the line for the driver who crosses under the checkered flag first on Wednesday. Last season, Tom Scully Jr. slid by a crashing Dalton Sargeant and Derek Griffith to capture the big prize and he went on to capture the track championship.
This season, Scully will search to defend the prize and will be chased by Griffith, Joey Pole, David Darling and more of New England’s top Super Late Model talent of the Pro All Star Series and Granite State Pro Stock Series. The Seekonk Speedway regular Pro Stock drivers will also make their presence felt, with names like Bobby Pelland, Ryan Vanasse and Kyle Casper looking to help defend the home turf.
The Pro 4 Modifieds – who were originally scheduled to compete in this event – had a prior commitment and will not be able to make the reschedule date.

Pit gates will open at 12 p.m., with practice set to get underway at 1:30 p.m. Time Trails for the Super Late Models will get underway at 5 p.m. and the heat racing will begin at 6 p.m.
