Claremont: One 2 Go – STAR Tour and Pepsi Limited Sportsman Special Event

8/10/2017 — Now is your chance to turn back time (now you are probably hearing Cher’s 1989 hit) as the stars and cars of yesteryear visit the speedway for their annual flashback Friday event as many of their Sportsmans and Modifieds competed at our storied oval. Will George Powers take to the front stretch to do his annual on-track start as well?

The Pepsi Limited Sportsman 40-Lap Special Event co-headlines the night’s race card as 15 additional laps have been added to their normal running distance with a sweetened race purse for the field. 12+ cars are anticipated to compete in the full-fendered event won last year by 2016 Track Champion Scott Vien. The division has seen 6 different winners in 8 events this season so will a 7th different winner visit KIXX Victory Lane? The R.E. Hinkley Super Streets and T-Bird Mini Mart Wildcats are both in action as well.

Rumor has it area race track competition will also be trying to take home the prize.
  • Going the Extra Mile – 5 miles to be exact. How will the Limited drivers treat the extra distance? Will they try to lead early or sit back and wait?
  • Reshuffle the Deck – The top 5 drivers in the Super Streets are within a 24-point window in the point standings. While we are only at Race 9 on the year, a bad night can reorganize the field at the top.

The Supers, Limited Sportsman, and Wildcats will be racing next week in one of our makeup dates. The following week, August 25, is our Race Against Cancer Event to benefit the Friends of Norris Cotton Cancer Center at Dartmouth Hitchcock.
