Double-Double on Tap for McIntosh after Hard Charging Top-Five Effort in OKC

BIXBY, Okla. (May 3, 2018) – A rare double-double Sprint Car and Midget racing opportunity is in store for 15-year-old Cannon McIntosh and the RL Hudson No. 08 team this weekend in Missouri after rallying from the final row to land a fourth-place finish in last Saturday night’s POWRi West Midget feature at Oklahoma City’s I-44 Riverside Speedway.

Coming off a second consecutive top-ten finish in POWRi West Midget competition, McIntosh and the Toyota-TRD team tackle the Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget vs. POWRi West Midget series events at Grain Valley, Missouri’s Valley Speedway on Friday night and then Wheatland, Missouri’s Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday night.

McIntosh will be pulling double duty on both nights, joining in on Friday’s non-wing WAR Sprint Car action at Valley Speedway and then putting the wing up top for Saturday’s ASCS Warrior Region card at Lucas Oil Speedway.

It will mark McIntosh’s first wingless Sprint Car outing and his second in the winged 360-ci Sprint Car after posting a top-ten run in his debut at Creek County Speedway two weeks ago.  He is currently ranked fourth in POWRi West Midget points.

“It will be a fun deal racing both cars on both nights,” McIntosh comments.  “Valley is a cool place, it always has a nice top to race on.  I didn’t have a great experience last time at Lucas Oil Speedway so hopefully, we can turn that around.”

Last weekend’s POWRi West Midget event at I-44 Riverside Speedway began much the way the previous weekend ended for McIntosh with fueling issues preventing him from wheeling his Midget around the 1/5-mile clay oval in both hot laps and his heat race.

By the end of the night though, McIntosh and the RL Hudson/Toyota-TRD No. 08 Midget team rallied back to a fourth-place finish from the 19th starting position in the 25-lap feature event.

“We thought we had our problem from Pevely fixed, but we had only found part of the problem,” McIntosh says.  “After about three hours of thrashing, we got it figured out.”

After transferring from “B” Main action, McIntosh had his work cut out for him, gridding the 20-car field in the 19thstarting position.

McIntosh charged through the field atop a choppy surface to snare a fourth-place finish at the stripe.

“It was tough the way the track was, it was a workout,” McIntosh recalls.  “I knew we had a chance to get near the front though, I just had to get out there and gas it up.”

With top tens in each of his last three starts, McIntosh looks to gas it up for some additional strong runs in both Midget and Sprint Car action this weekend.

Along with RL Hudson and Toyota-TRD, other marketing partners making the ambitious 2018 slate of events possible includes American Discount, Complete Auto Care, Best Graphics, Fieldhouse Gear, Precision Inspection, Sanders and Associates, Panels by Smoke, Walker Performance, Sanders Wheels, American Discount Brake and Muffler, D&N Fabrication, Car and Fleet and Infinity Shocks.

2018 Quick Stats:  5 races, 1 top-five, 3 top-tens.
