Bacon Set for USAC Sprint Car Double After Big E Triumph

WINCHESTER, Ind. (May 16, 2018) – Brady Bacon was the lone driver that pulled double duty during last weekend’s #LetsRaceTwo event at Rossburg, Ohio’s Eldora Speedway featuring the USAC Amsoil National Sprint Cars and the Craftsman World of Outlaws Sprint Cars.

So it was only fitting that Bacon pulled off a win during the double that was part of a fast-paced five-race weekend for the Broken Arrow, OK, native.

With his second triumph of the season in the books, action continues this weekend with a pair of USAC National Sprint Car events at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, IL, on Friday and then Pevely, Missouri’s Federated Auto Parts I-55 Raceway on Saturday night.

Last weekend’s action kicked off with the opening leg of #LetsRaceTwo at Eldora with Bacon winning his USAC Sprint Car heat race after timing in ninth. Gridding the feature field eighth, Bacon worked the top side to advance through the field and then made the low side of turn four work to his advantage as he powered into the lead by the 19th round before ultimately racing to the stipe with more than a five-second advantage.

“It was getting trickier to hit the bottom, but I just kept it in my back pocket,” Bacon explained. “I knew it was so treacherous up top and easy to lose your momentum. There really wasn’t much grip to gain your speed back.”

Bacon finished out the USAC portion of the weekend with another strong run on Saturday night, climbing from the tenth starting position to post a fourth-place finish for his 11th overall top-five showing of the year.

“Eldora is always good for us in the non-wing car,” Bacon said of the weekend. “We just need to get a little better in qualifying to put us in a better position to be up front each night.”

Bacon made his presence known in the World of Outlaws portion of #LetsRaceTwo as well, advancing a handful of positions in Friday night’s feature to finish 16th and then racing from 23rd to 13th in Saturday night’s feature.

“Finishes of 16th and 13th are nothing to hang our heads about with that competition,” Bacon explained. “There were at least 30 cars there probably capable of winning under the right circumstances, so to be that competitive on both nights is a positive for our team.”

Bacon rounded out the weekend with a Mother’s Day World of Outlaws tilt at Haubstadt, Indiana’s Tri-State Speedway on Sunday.

After timing in eighth among his group, Bacon secured the 16th starting position in the feature with a fourth-place heat race finish. He then rallied through the field, climbing all the way to sixth and in contention for a podium finish when he was collected in a turn two incident on a lap 30 restart.

“It’s a love/hate relationship with Tri-State Speedway,” said of the Haubstadt oval that has teased a possible World of Outlaws win for Bacon on several occasions. “We had a top five car at worst, there just wasn’t anywhere to go when they got together.”

Bacon goes into this week’s pair of USAC Sprint Car events looking to climb the point charts. He has enjoyed success at Tri-City Speedway in both the winged and non-wing Sprint Car ranks in the past and got a recent look at Federated Auto Parts I-55 Raceway in Midget action.
