Beech Ridge Next On Tap for PASS North Stars this Weekend

NAPLES, ME (July 5) – After a weekend that saw several drivers punch their tickets to the 45th Annual Oxford 250 and to the Commonwealth Classic at Richmond Raceway, a full field of Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Models and PASS Modifieds will be back on track this Saturday night at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway.

While four drivers are currently within 100 points of PASS North championship leader, DJ Shaw, it is another Granite State speedster that is making his presence known as the summer heats up.

As the only PASS Super Late Model driver to claim wins above and below the Mason-Dixon line this year, Derek Griffith has established himself as one of the top short track drivers in the country in 2018.  Not only did his win at Spud Speedway on Tuesday night get him a guaranteed starting spot for the PASS Commonwealth Classic at Richmond Raceway in October, but it also thrust him right into the middle of the race for the championship.  The win helped Griffith bypass former PASS North champion, Travis Benjamin, into second in the standings, now just 10 points behind Shaw.  Although his season has been stellar, two of Maine’s most famous tracks have been his undoing so far this year.

“I guess the win at Spud kind of gets us back in contention for the championship,” says Griffith, driver of the LCM Motorsports Chevrolet #12.  “We’ve had good runs all year it seems besides Beech Ridge and Oxford. Hopefully, we can turn that around on Saturday night.”

The biggest challenge for the PASS North regulars this weekend could be from defending Oxford 250 winner, Curtis Gerry.  Gerry is on an unbelievable six-race win streak in PASS at Beech Ridge and Oxford.  Former PASS North and Beech Ridge champion, Mike Rowe, will also be among the contenders on Saturday night.  A strong field is setting up which will also include Garrett Hall, Gabe Brown, JT Thurlow, Kyle Welch, and John Peters.

Action gets underway on Saturday afternoon with rotating practice for all competing divisions starting at 3 PMand racing for the PASS North Super Late Models and PASS Modifieds beginning at 7 PM.
