Two Headline Divisions, One Big Night: Sunoco Modifieds & Super Late Models Headline Friday, July 20 Georgetown Speedway Show
GEORGETOWN, DE – Two headline divisions, one big night.
On Friday, July 20, Georgetown Speedway returns to action with a huge event headlined by Sunoco Modifieds ($3,000 to win, 30 laps) and Super Late Models ($2,700 to win, 25 laps) all on one race night!
The night’s events are sponsored by Blue Hen Dispose-All located in Millsboro, Del.
Sunoco Modifieds are back on the banked half-mile oval for the first time in six weeks, with the most recent event having been held on June 1. Craig Von Dohren of Oley, Pa., is the season’s only repeat winner. Von Dohren won on March 16 to open the season and then picked up his second triumph of the year on June 1.
Other Modified winners have been Ryan Watt (March 17), Stewart Friesen (April 19) and Ryan Godown (May 4).
Super Late Models made their first appearance of the season on June 29 with Dale Hollidge of Mechanicsville, Md., annexing the ‘Clash for Cash’ event worth a hefty $3,500.
The Super Late Model event on July 20 offers a valuable $1,000 guaranteed starting position for the Bedford (Pa.) Speedway’s Keystone Cup on Sept. 28-29. There are only two of these spots being offered across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic for this blockbuster event.
Also on the July 20 card: L&J Sheet Metal Crate 602 Sportsman ($1,000 to win with 15 or more cars, $600 to win with less than 15), Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, Little Lincolns, Delmarva Chargers and Delaware Super Trucks.
Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Grandstand gates are unlocked at 5 p.m. Hot laps hit the track at 6:45 p.m. Race time is 7:30 p.m.
Adult grandstand admission is $20. Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17) pay $16. Kids ages 9-12 pay $10. Children 8 and under are FREE.
Pit admission is $35 for ages 13 and up. Kids ages 6-12 pay $10. Children 5 and under pay $2.
Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
