Seekonk Announces New NASCAR Saturday Race Director for 2019 Wall of Fame Member Len Ellis to take Position

SEEKONK, Mass. – With the 2018 racing season recently moving into the rear-view mirror, Seekonk Speedway officials are already looking ahead and beginning to plan the racing card for 2019 at the Action Track of the East.

The first decision to be set in stone is the appointment of Len Ellis to the Race Director position for NASCAR Whelen All American Series Saturday night competition.

Ellis, who is a Seekonk Speedway Wall of Fame member, and former two time Pro Stock champion, will oversee Saturday night racing which will include the Pro Stocks, Late Models, Sportsman and Sports Trucks. As a former Race Director at Seekonk, Len is happy to be back in the role.

“I never thought I would do this again, but like 2007, I wanted to give back something to the sport that I really love,” Ellis said. “I feel like I can, and I understand a lot more because I’ve been a driver, an owner, and I’ve worked on the cars.”

Even though Ellis is ready to work with all of the drivers, car owners and officials in the pit area, he really has accepted the role to help everyone, and give back.

“I want to help. I want to make racing great again,” Ellis said.

Ellis was inducted into the inaugural Wall of Fame class in 2013, where D. Anthony Venditti, the founder of the third-mile, and his wife, Irene Venditti, joined him. Carl Berghman, Ron Bouchard, Norm Holden, Johnny Verissimo and George Summers were also part of the original class just five years ago.

With Ellis appointed, Seekonk wishes to thank Ron Manfredo for his job in the role, and other tasks at the Seekonk Speedway he has completed over his Wall of Fame career.

Ellis will begin as the Race Director on Sunday, May 5, 2019, when Seekonk Speedway opens their racing season.
