Late Model Racing Returns to Memphis on July 21, 2019
MILLINGTON, TN (December 14, 2018) – The Champion Racing Association (CRA) and Memphis International Raceway (MIR) are pleased to announce that Late Model racing is returning to the MIR Oval in 2019 with their Masters of the Pro’s race. The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, Presented by Chevrolet Performance, Master of the Pro’s race is the largest standalone Pro Late Model event of the year.
The 125-lap race will pay a minimum of $10,000 to win and $1,000 to start, making it the richest Pro Late Model race in the United States. In addition to the $10,000 purse for the winner, the coveted Masters of the Pro’s Green Jacket will be on the line.
“One of my first tasks after coming to MIR was to bring more action to our three-quarter-mile oval,” said Tim Packman, President of MIR. “Being able to announce a CRA event of this magnitude is a big step in that direction. That fact we are hosting the “Master of the Pro’s” Late Model race is even better.
“We look forward to some incredible racing from the drivers and teams who will make their way to Memphis. Even more so, we look forward to the economic impact of Late Model fans traveling from out of state for this race. It’s a great opportunity for the Memphis business community to join us for this prestigious event. Memphis is the place to rock, and now it is the place to race.”
There will be an open practice on Saturday, July 20. That evening, after the practice session, there will be a driver meet and greet for fans on the historic Beale Street in downtown Memphis. Time Trials and the main event will take place on Sunday, July 21.
“We are excited to take the Masters of the Pro’s to a great race track in a great city,” said CRA managing partner R.J. Scott. “Tim Packman and his team are going to put on a great event both on and off the race track. Too many times we pop into a town and get out of town and don’t get to experience everything a city has to offer.”
In its six previous races, the Masters of the Pro’s race has evolved into a marquee event for Pro Late Model teams and race fans nationwide.
“The Masters of the Pro’s has already been a great event for Pro Late Model Racing with an incredible list of former winners including: Chase Elliott, John Hunter Nemechek, and Bubba Pollard. Now, it’s just been taken to the next level by being hosted at Memphis International Raceway,” Scott remarked.
Former winners of the race include: Chase Elliott (2013), Anderson Bowen (2014), John Hunter Nemechek (2015 & 2016), Cole Williams (2017) and Bubba Pollard (2018).
Entry forms, schedules and more information about the Masters of the Pro’s 125 at MIR will be released soon.
