RSMPCO.com Contributes $4,500 to Street Stock Triple Crown Point Fund at Stafford

Stafford Springs, CT — Stafford Speedway officials have announced that RSMPCO.com of Bristol, CT, is contributing $4,500 to the Street Stock Triple Crown point fund.  Street Stock Triple Crown races will be increased to 30 laps from the traditional 20-lap weekly feature and will be held NAPA Spring Sizzler Weekend, Friday, June 21st, and NAPA Fall Final Weekend.

“I’ve always enjoyed Stafford’s Street Stock division,” explained Jason Derwin Owner/Operator of RSMPCO.com.  “The mix of young drivers and veterans has always been fun to watch and with the division growing in the last few years we wanted to jump in and support the new Triple Crown concept.  It’s going to be a great season at Stafford and we’re really excited to watch the Triple Crown play out.”

RSMPCO.com (Royal Screw Machine Products), has been run by Jason Derwin and his family for the last 12 years and is a full service CNC machine shop specializing in services for the Aerospace, Hardware, Defense, and Medical industries.  Based in Bristol, CT, RSMPCO.com is set up to machine all kinds of materials ranging from soft plastics all the way up to exotic aviation nickels, copper, brass, and specialty stainless steels.

“All of us at Stafford are excited to welcome Jason Derwin and RSMPCO.com as a Stafford Speedway partner,” explained Stafford Speedway Assistant General Manager David Arute.  “When we announced the Triple Crown event last fall we were looking for a way to showcase our Street Stock division.  Jason and RSMPCO.com have stepped up to provide an excellent point fund for teams and drivers to chase.  The street stocks are the first rung in the ladder program we are working to build at Stafford and the division is an important foundation for its success.”

The Triple Crown concept will award points and will end in crowning a Triple Crown champion at the NAPA Auto Parts Fall Final.  Points will be awarded to the top-10 finishers in each Triple Crown event, with the winner receiving 10 points and the 10th place finisher receiving 1 point. Additionally, competitors will receive 1 bonus point for each non-triple crown Street Stock event they compete in over the 2019 season.  It will be important for drivers to compete at Stafford as often as possible if they want a shot at the Triple Crown title.

“Last season the Street Stocks put on a show week in and week out,” continued Arute.  “We had 10 different winners across 21 events and witnessed an intense championship battle between two talented young drivers, Brandon Michael and George Bessette, Jr.  The Triple Crown series will add another layer of competition into the Street Stock division; we’re hoping drivers are excited about the series as well.  Stay tuned for more announcements on the purse structure for the triple crown events.”

The 2019 season and the first event of the RSMPCO.com Street Stock Triple Crown are set for NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler weekend April 27th and 28th. The Street Stocks will kick off their season with a 30 lap feature Saturday afternoon. Tickets are available online at staffordspeedway.com or by contacting the speedway box office at 860-684-2783.
