‘Super Season’ at Georgetown Speedway Gets Early Start Thursday, April 18

GEORGETOWN, DE – ‘Super season’ at Georgetown Speedway starts early in 2019.

The Sunoco Super Late Models make their first ‘19 Georgetown appearance on Thursday, April 18 in a program that is certain to delight fans of the division. The Super Late Models are joined by their RUSH Late Model counterparts in an exciting event at the Sussex County half-mile oval.

The memory of racer Mark ‘Coot’ Williams will be in the spotlight as the Sunoco Super Late Models race 26 laps for $3,026 to win. Williams, whose No. 26 was iconic in the Delmarva region, unfortunately, passed away last October.

As part of the four-night ‘Battle of the Bay’ Speedweek, RUSH Late Models race 30 laps with $3,000 up for grabs. The ‘Battle of the Bay’ begins Wednesday (April 17) at Delaware International Speedway in nearby Delmar, moves to Georgetown on Thursday (April 18) before trekking west to Potomac Speedway in Budd’s Creek, Md., April 19 and Winchester (Va.) Speedway Saturday (April 20).

A $3,000 series point fund has been posted for the four-night swing in addition to several other bonuses.

Also on the card are the Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, Delaware Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers all in 12-lap features.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Grandstand gates are unlocked at 5 p.m. Hot laps hit the track at 6:20 p.m., with racing at 7:15 p.m.

Adult admission is $20 for Adults; $16 for Seniors (ages 65-plus) and Students (ages 13-17). Kids (ages 9-12) pay $10 and Children 8 and under are FREE.

Pit admission is $35 (ages 13 and up), $10 for Kids ages 6-12 and $2 for Children 5 and under.

Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
