PASS Super Late Models Ready to Roar into Speedway 51 this Weekend

NAPLES, ME (May 15) – For the second straight weekend, the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Models will compete on a tight Granite State bullring. After a wild race at Star Speedway that saw home state favorite DJ Shaw come out on top, the tour moves to Groveton, NH’s Speedway 51 for the NAPA Spectacular PASS 151. While Shaw has gotten a little bit of breathing room in the chase for New England’s top short track title, fellow Center Conway, NH driver Gabe Brown is looking to make his mark in the series. Following a Super Late Model championship at Oxford Plains Speedway in 2018, Brown has moved up to PASS North competition and now finds himself sitting third in points. Brown says he is looking forward to another race in the Granite State this weekend.

“It’s pretty cool to have the opportunity to race on all the tracks we get to compete on,” says Brown, driver of the E&R Excavation/North Conway Incinerator Ford Mustang #47. “I’m a big fan of the tight, rough short tracks that we go to. I’m looking to forward to going to Speedway 51. I’ve gone a few times as a kid and the track puts on some good racing.”

Several more stops are planned for this year in Brown’s home state, but perhaps none will be bigger than PASS’s return to New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon. The New England Short Track Showdown on June 22-23 will give drivers like Brown the chance to compete on the fast 1-Mile over as part of the PASS National Championship Series.

“The race at New Hampshire is something I’m really looking forward to this year, especially with PASS and the group of drivers I race with week in and week out,” says Brown. “After the seat time last year there and the Richmond race this year, I think we will have a good car.”

But first, Brown will have to tame Speedway 51 on Sunday afternoon in the NAPA Spectacular PASS 151. Fellow New Hampshire driver, Derek Griffith, has entered along with Oxford winner, Garrett Hall and Hickory winner, Derek Ramstrom. Nick Sweet and Bobby Therrien will be making the trip from Vermont, while Micheal Scorzelli from New York will attempt his first career PASS start this weekend.

Entries are also coming in rapidly for the 46th Annual Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway as the best racers in North America stake their claim and try to win up to $50,000 for the win. Defending winner, Bubba Pollard will be heading up from Georgia, while former winners Travis Benjamin, Curtis Gerry, Glen Luce, Joey Polewarcyzk and Mike Rowe are among the nearly 30 entries so far.

All the action gets underway on Sunday at Speedway 51 with open practice for all competing divisions starting at 9 AM, followed by heat races. Feature racing is slated to begin after the heats for PASS North Super Late Models, PASS Modifieds, Street Stocks, NELCAR Legends, and Tiger Sportsman.
