Sussex Breaks Through at Casa Grande

CASA GRANDE, AZ – MAY 18, 2019… After a torrid battle with Jake Swanson and Brody Roa, Stevie Sussex (Tempe, AZ) became the sixth different winner in as many races with the Sands Chevrolet USAC SouthWest Sprint Car Series. Driving Robbie and Gaye Allen’s #12 ABC Body Shop / PPG Automotive Finishes Maxim, Sussex reclaimed the lead for good on lap 29 to score his third “Hank Arnold Memorial” win at Casa Grande’s Central Arizona Speedway. Fast qualifier Roa, “Chargin” Charles Davis Jr., “The Real American” Matt Rossi, and R.J. Johnson rounded out the top-five drivers.

Roa earned the night’s Saldana Racing Products Hard Charger Award / Best Passing Job honors with a second-place run from sixth. In addition, the point leader claimed his first career Beaver Stripes Fast Time Award by posting a new 410 track record of 15.133 over the 14-car roster.

The ten-lap heat race victories went to Charles Davis Jr. (Brown & Miller Racing Solutions First Heat) and R.J. Johnson (Competition Suspension Incorporated / Ultra Shield Race Products Second Heat).

The USAC SouthWest Sprint Cars will return to action on Saturday, June 1st at Arizona Speedway.

The Sands Chevrolet USAC SouthWest Sprint Car Series thanks AMSOIL, Beaver Stripes, Brown & Miller Racing Solutions, ButlerBuilt Professional Seat Systems, Competition Suspension Incorporated, Hoosier Racing Tire, Pyrotect Racing Cells, Saldana Racing Products, and Ultra Shield Race Products for their support.
