Brad Duhow Breaks the Bank in Kartway’s Super Kart Series Opener
WEEDSPORT, NY (May 28, 2019) – More than 150 entries filed through the pit gates for the opening round of Weedsport Kartway’s Performance Manufacturing Super Kart Series presented by Stirling Lubricants and Champion Racing Oil on Sunday, May 26 with Middleport, NY’s Brad Duhow topping the charts in Clone Light and PRO Clone 360, earning a cool $1,000.
Duhow qualified second fastest in PRO Clone and battled with polesitter Dan Marsden, Jeff Chapman, Chris Natoli, and David Hackett Jr. through the majority of the event, before coming out on top of the 31-kart field in the night’s 30-lap finale.
Chapman, the winner of last year’s Octoberfest special, finished in the second position with Hackett, Natoli and Dustin Pettyleaf earning paychecks in PRO Clone. Phil Young, Chance Weaver, Trent Curtis, Matt Chavis, and Devon Tonkin completed the Top 10.
Clone Light would also see Duhow pull into victory lane on Sunday as he bested Chris Norconk by just under 1-second at the finish line. Hackett, Marsden and John Palmieri battled hard to finish in the Top 5. Tyler Stevenson, Rick Crisafulli, Tim Campbell, Hannah Weltzer and Gary Miles rounded out the Top 10 in Light.
The Clone Heavy main event started 25-karts and featured a ferocious battle for the top spot, which saw Duhow have to settle for only second. Trent Curtis ended a seesaw race for the Clone Heavy victory out in front by only .205 seconds over Duhow. Doug Payne came on strong at race end to claim third ahead of Nick McGill and Chavis in the front five positions. Richard Murtaugh, Chris Pier, Pettyleaf, Weaver and Logan Winn crossed in the Top 10.
Clone Super Heavy featured another great battle for the win at the front of the field, this time between Chavis and Murtaugh. Several lead changes at the point would eventually see Chavis come out on top by a mere .211-seconds over Murtaugh. McGill, Thomas Montgomery, Young, Shawn Jeffrey, Rick Raner, Chad Jacobson, Ryan Hall, and Logan Winn finished in the Top 10 spots.
A number of Jr. racers were also in action on Sunday with Jacob Schulz grabbing the win in Jr. Green Clone. Schulz topped Justin Crisafulli, Mason Redmond, Connor Crane, Tyler Paige, Parker Allen, Grayson Adderly, Cooper McKeown, and Cody Stebbins.
Jr. Blue Clone was controlled by Logan Crisafulli, as he ran away to a win of over 2-seconds. Tanner Emmons, Dylan Duhow, Raelin Dunham, Owen Bird, Seth Whitney, Dylan Begy, Noah Ratcliff, Taylor Wason, and Logan Abbott chased Crisafulli across the finish line.
Another dominating win was taken in Jr. Red Clone, as Kolton Gamble covered the field. The field of 8-karts saw Blake Banek, Deegan Nichols, Levi Godfrey, Connor Allen, Sawyer Bennett, Sella Kiefer, and Penelope Bartlett finish the order.
Jr. Purple Clone finished on Sunday with Anthony Pollow out front as the victor. Riley Bloomingdale, Jacob Hutton, Nigel Pendykoski, Jason Parkhurst Jr., Chris Crane, Brittney Hackett, Caiden Ayen, James Donaldson and Chris Duclos were the Top 10.
