ACT to Headline at Thompson Following NASCAR Cancellation
Waterbury, VT – The American-Canadian Tour (ACT) will now have top billing when the series rolls into Connecticut’s Thompson Speedway on Saturday, June 15. NASCAR and Thompson officials announced on Tuesday that the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East 100 scheduled for that day has been canceled and will not be replaced on the program.
The decision means the ACT Thompson 75 has been elevated to headline status on the revamped card of racing. The event is the second round of the Summer Kickoff Series with a $5,000 prize waiting for the winner. Plainfield, NH’s Rich Dubeau won the first round of the Summer Kickoff Series at Vallée-Jct., QC’s Autodrome Chaudiere on June 1 and is now eligible for an additional $5,000 bonus should he sweep all three events.
In order to do so, he’ll have to fend off the best of the ACT Late Model Tour, including two-time defending ACT Champion Scott Payea, perennial title contender Jimmy Hebert, sophomore standout Dylan Payea, and current top rookie Ryan Kuhn. The best Late Model racers from Thompson and Southern New England are also expected at the event, including defending ACT World Series winner William Wall, former Thompson Modified Champion Woody Pitkat, Opening Day Thompson winner Tom Carey III, and rising Super Late Model star Jake Johnson.
The Thompson 75 will also feature weekly racing from the track’s Sunoco Modifieds, Lite Modifieds, Limited Sportsmen, and Mini Stocks. Track officials are expected to announce more information soon regarding a new schedule of events.
As part of the event restructuring, ticket and pit prices have also been reduced. General admission tickets will now be $25 for adults; $20 for seniors, veterans, and active military; and free for kids ages 12 and under. Pit passes have been set at $40.
