Legends Driver Mike Blaskey Preparing for Bullring Bash Opener
The Bullring Bash Quarter Mile Challenge presented by RaceChoice is thrilled to put the spotlight on both the Modified and Legends divisions when they take to the track this coming Sunday for their opener at White Mountain Motorsports Park.
One driver who will be behind the wheel in the Legends division is Michael Blaskey, a native of Bethany, Connecticut. He’ll be driving his No. 34 Pleasant View Garage Chevy.
The Bullring Bash has been an event that Blaskey has been looking forward to for quite some time now.
“We’re pretty excited. We’ve been talking about it since it first came out. We’re looking forward to it. Looking forward to the competition. That’s what we want. We want to run with the best guys.”
Along with the strong field of Legends cars expected for Sunday, the massive payout for competitors was the chief reason Blaskey chose to put his name on the entry list.
“It’s the purse,” Blaskey said. “These cars are supposed to be inexpensive, and they’re far from that. The payout where we were racing was very little. When we see some of these races where it’s attractive for us with a bigger payout, of course, we want to enter. It’s nice to see someone put something together with us in mind to try and help out the sport.
“I think Legends cars get kind of overlooked because they’re kind of like a step-up class, but they’re also a class for guys like myself who aren’t going to race Modifieds or Late Models.”
Blaskey also sees the event as an opportunity to show race fans what Legends cars of made of.
“You want to showcase it because you’re proud of what you’re doing,” he said. “I’m proud of some of the guys I run with. There’s guys I know who I can run door-to-door with and not bat an eyelash and feel safe. These are the type of guys we’ll be running with [on Sunday]… Knowing you can trust the guy next to you and put on a good show for the fans, I think the fans will appreciate the racing a little bit more.”
