Cannon McIntosh Ready for Pair of POWRi West Showdowns this Weekend

BIXBY, Okla. (June 21, 2019) – After two weekends of Speedweek action throughout Indiana and Illinois, Cannon McIntosh races closer to home this weekend with a pair of Lucas Oil POWRi West League events in Oklahoma.

The POWRi West Sooner Showdown gets underway Friday at Sapulpa, Oklahoma’s Creek County Speedway before moving on to Tulsa’s Port City Raceway on Saturday night.

Rather than being in the familiar Dave Mac Motorsports Toyota-TRD Spike No. 08 this weekend, the 16-year-old will wheel the No. 11b entry normally driven by teammate Kaylee Bryson, who will be in Micro Sprint action at the High Banks Hustle at Southern Illinois Speedway.

“There are a few little things that are different about each car, so we’re just wanting to test them out some this weekend,” McIntosh commented.

After a strong USAC Midget Week in Indiana that netted a pair of top-five finishes, last week’s POWRi Midget Week in Illinois was abbreviated by Mother Nature to little more than one race.

After the Wednesday night opener was rained out at Belleville, IL, McIntosh rebounded from an early-race incident on Thursday at Brownstown’s Fayette County Speedway to secure a ninth-place finish.  He then raced to a fourth-place finish in a makeup feature at Jacksonville Speedway on Friday before the balance of the night, as well as Saturday and Sunday cards at Macon and Lincoln, all fell victim to rain.

“We were fighting some brake problems and I just got in there and looped it at Brownstown,” McIntosh comments.  “Jacksonville was heavy and a had a huge curb right in the middle, there wasn’t a lot of room to do much of anything.”

McIntosh will be looking for victory lane with the POWRi West Midget League in Sapulpa and Oklahoma City this weekend.

Along with Toyota-TRD, other marketing partners making the 2019 Cannon McIntosh slate of events possible includes Sanders and Associates, Car and Fleet, Mobil 1, Speedway Engine Development, Best Graphics, Fieldhouse Gear, Precision Inspection, Panels by Smoke, Walker Performance, Sanders Wheels, American Discount Brake and Muffler, D&N Fabrication, Darling Ingredients, PJ’s and Hinds Family.

Up Next: Lucas Oil POWRi West Midget League at Sapulpa, Oklahoma’s Creek County Speedway on Friday and Tulsa’s Port City Raceway on Saturday.
