Gargaro Claims Charity Event at Foxwoods

Kyle Larson Visits Foxwoods as part of Speedway Children’s Charities Event

Dave Gargaro, Jr. of Cranston, RI was the overall winner and set fast time in the Speedway Children’s Charities race. Gargaro has competed in endurance races at the multi-level track at Foxwoods Resort Casino. As a competitor at New London-Waterford Speedbowl and Seekonk Speedway, Gargaro’s traditional number has been No. 42.

On Wednesday afternoon at Monza Indoor Karting at Foxwoods, Gargaro got to compete with Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series star Kyle Larson.

“It’s definitely a special experience, getting to bang doors with somebody that’s at NASCAR’s highest level every week,” Gargaro said. “So it was definitely a good experience and I’m just happy I can continue my little dominance I got going on here.”

Qualifying was set by fastest lap time to earn a starting position in the finale.

“When they told me it was based off lap time, just to get into the race, I just laid back on the start, let everybody go. And I just ran my laps, and it ended up working out we got the fastest lap time of the day.

Larson finished seventh overall.

“It was pretty fun. I ended up waiting on Kyle (Larson) so that we could actually have a battle and race each other which was a blast.”

Competitors were organized by color and each team received a group photo with Larson after the Q&A for fans. Gargaro was able to get his helmet signed before Larson left as well.

Gargaro recorded the race with his GoPro camera and was eager to edit it

“I’m already smiling just thinking about editing it tonight. It’s gonna be sick!”

Gargaro expects to run 1-2 more endurance karting events this year before running more races during the offseason. On Saturday night, he’s back to competing in the Helger’s Southcoast Power Equipment Sportsman at Seekonk.
