Arrenegado Snags Win & Triple Crown Title in Late Models

Vinnie Arrenegado wasn’t going to let anyone get in his way in the 50 lap Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series finale for the Late Models. Arrenegado would start just behind the first two rows, but it didn’t take him long to make his way to the lead. He would pass Dan Johnson for the top spot on lap 15, and drive off into the sunset en route to the victory.

Johnson would lead the field around from laps two through 14, but once Arrenegado got by him, he had to settle for second. Johnson wouldn’t let much ground be lost, but he couldn’t quite get close enough to get back by him. In the final few laps, Johnson would run lap times quicker than Arrenegado, closing the gap to the final checkered flag. But he would finish .322 seconds back in second.

While the top two pulled away, the battles between the rest of the field was hot and heavy. Gerry DeGaspere Jr. worked his way through the field and got to the third spot, settling there more than half straightaway behind the top two. Ryan Lineham and Tommy Adams would work their way into the bottom of the top five, where they would finish.
