NASCAR Saturday Recap September 14 2019

In what turned out to be one of the wildest and wettest nights in recent memory, two drivers earned checkered flags on NASCAR Saturday, while two other divisions were left taking cover from a persistent sprinkle that forced the night to end early.

The Seekonk Sport Trucks division entered the night with a close championship battle at the top, with Rookie of the Year contender Richie Murray leading Barry Shaw Jr. When the checkered flag went up in the air at the end of their 25-lap feature, it was Murray finishing second, only losing two points, as Shaw earned another checkered flag, extending his total past a handful. With just one week left in the schedule, Murray leads by 14 over Shaw, as the two drivers will take their title battle down to the final night.

The Everett’s Auto Parts Late Model feature started with some chaos, and ended with more. Tyler Tomassi would lead the field to the green, but he would spin off turn two early in the race, forcing him to the rear, while a few others lost their chance at victory in the wreck. When push came to shove, it was Tommy Adams, Ryan Lineham and Vinnie Arrenegado, three of the closest drivers in the championship battle, fighting for the win. When rain fell, and the race never restarted, Lineham, who was the leader, was given the victory.

The Sportsman and Pro Stock feature races never took the green, so their title fights go into the final race the same at the top, with Corey Fanning leading the Sportsman, and David Darling already having clinched the Pro Stock crown.
