Amy St. Onge Named Honorary Grand Marshal of Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing at Thompson Speedway
THOMPSON, Conn. — Amy St. Onge, a local business owner and current Thompson Selectman, has been named the honorary grand marshal of the Sunoco World Series at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park.
Over three days of racing on one of NASCAR’s most historic short tracks, 20 racing divisions will compete in the 57th annual World Series of Speedway Racing, October 11-13, headlined by the season-finale for NASCAR’s Whelen Modified Tour. St. Onge will greet the crowd on Sunday as part of pre-race ceremonies before racing takes the green flag.
“When Jon Hoenig (CEO of Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park) called me, I was almost in tears,” St. Onge said. “I’m really excited.”
St. Onge was recently endorsed by the Republican Town Committee for First Selectman. She will have a display on the midway for fans to visit on Sunday.
Thompson’s Sunoco World Series begins on Friday, October 11, with the first set of feature races, and qualifying. Saturday and Sunday, 15 of the 20 divisions will compete, including a full slate of Saturday night racing.
