Super DIRT Week: What to Watch for at Weedsport – YankeeRacer.com

Super DIRT Week: What to Watch for at Weedsport

WEEDSPORT, NY (October 8, 2019) – Super DIRT Week is certainly a grind for DIRTcar 358-Modified and Sportsman competitors, and Wednesday night’s action at Weedsport Speedway will feature the second round of a potential six consecutive nights of action for teams.

The series point standings will alter slightly after Tuesday’s action at Utica-Rome Speedway, but the players will remain the same on Wednesday.

Currently Erick Rudolph, a Super DIRTcar Series winner at Weedsport earlier this season, leads the 358-Modified series standings over first-year runner, Dave Marcuccilli.

Rudolph couldn’t ask for two better tracks to start his week, as he claimed the 358-Modified championship at Utica-Rome earlier this season and is the defending champion of the St. Lawrence Radiology 100 at Weedsport. With two wins on tour and a total of 11 358-wins during the regular season, Rudolph is poised to get his week started off on the right foot, literally.

Marcuccilli comes into the week on cloud nine after earning his first career 358-Modified Series main event win at Mohawk International Raceway in September. That victory has Marcuccilli within striking distance of the championship this week.

Corey Wheeler, Mike Mahaney and Tim Fuller sit in the top five of the standings, with Fuller having earned a win this season at Can-Am Speedway in June.

Jordan McCreadie, Mat Williamson, Kyle Dingwall, Michael Parent, and Ryan Arubuthnot finish the top ten.

Despite sitting seventh in points, Williamson has three wins this season in just five starts and is arguably one of the hottest drivers in dirt modified racing in the second half of the season.

Larry Wight, Billy Decker, Pat Ward, Billy Dunn, Lance Willix, Ronnie Davis III, Chris Raabe, Yan Bussier, Mike Maresca and more are all expected for Wednesday’s St. Lawrence Radiology 100.

The DIRTcar Sportsman Series is tight following Outlaw 200 Weekend at Fulton Speedway with veterans Kevin Root, Matt Janczuk, Brad Rouse, Kyle Inman and Jackson Gill on top.

The front five runners are separated by only 35-points heading into Super DIRT Week, meaning the championship is clearly wide open.

Defending Super DIRT Week champion Shane Pecore, Chris Mackey, Zach Sobotka, Alan Fink and Jessica Power are all in tow, ready to pounce should the leaders have issues.
