Porsche to Offer Le Mans 24 Hour Opportunity to 2020 Carrera Cup Australia Drivers

Carrera Cup Australia offers once in a lifetime opportunity at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2020

The 2020 Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup season is shaping up to be the biggest on record on the back of its recently announced 2020 calendar, which is set to take place at the Australian Grand Prix and the premier Supercar events around the country.

The series will also enjoy the largest sponsorship support, television package and prize pool in Carrera Cup’s 15-year history.

Porsche have now announced it will be the official support category for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2020, combining rounds of Porsche Carrera Cup France (PCCF) and Porsche Carrera Cup Germany (PCCD).

For 2020, Porsche has also offered the opportunity for one driver from each Carrera Cup series globally, to compete and represent their country at this iconic event racing against a field of over 60 Cup Cars just before the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

This once in a lifetime opportunity for one lucky competitor will be open to all 2020 Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup drivers in Australia.

To represent Australia at this event next year, Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup Australia (PCCA) will conduct a raffle which will be drawn on the Sunday morning of the second round of the Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup round held at the Australian Grand Prix.

To be eligible to enter the raffle, competitors must compete in the first two rounds of the Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup championship in 2020 and be able to attend the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the necessary financial support. Porsche Cars Australia will, in turn, provide options for a range of arrive and drive packages available at the event.

On the announcement, Porsche Cars Australia Head of Motorsport, Troy Bundy said, “The series is receiving huge interest from top teams and drivers across the country for next year and we are delighted to announce this once in a lifetime opportunity to one of our premier class drivers.”

“To race at this iconic event in a Porsche, for Australia, is an incredible opportunity for any driver, especially with the event’s special atmosphere and illustrious history,” he added.

This extraordinary competition between 60 identical Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars from around the world on the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe will take place on 13 and 14 June next year, just hours before the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The winner will be announced on the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia website and social media channels after the draw.
