Georgetown Speedway Announces Open Practice Session for Saturday (February 22)

GEORGETOWN, DE – Due to a high demand for track time, the management of Georgetown Speedway has announced an Open Practice for this Saturday, February 22.

The practice will be open to all divisions. Gates will open at 3 p.m. Cars will hit the track after 4 p.m. Three hours of track time will be allotted for competitors.

“We’ve had a large number of phone calls from race teams looking to rent the track,” speedway promoter Brett Deyo said. “Due to the high demand, we decided to open the speedway up this weekend for a practice session and give track time for all who would like it.”

The half-mile clay oval will be fully prepped for the Open Practice session. Track lights will be turned on as needed.

Pit admission is $25 for Adults (ages 13 and up). Kids (ages 6-12) pay $10. Children 5 and under pay $2. Grandstands will be open free of charge.

Hurlock Auto & Speed Supply will be on hand with parts and Sunoco Race Fuels.

The next scheduled practice for Tuesday, March 3 will go on as scheduled.

Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
