McElrea Racing driver, Cooper Murray will partner with Phase 8 for the 2020 Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup Australia season
Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup Australia’s youngest ever race and round winner, Cooper Murray, will partner with the Sydney-based electrical engineering, research, development and training company, Phase 8 for the 2020 season.
Phase 8 first joined Carrera Cup in 2012 supporting McElrea Racing’s Alex Davison who would finish third in the championship. Further podium results in the 2013 and 2014 seasons followed when Phase 8 supported Warren Luff’s No Second Chance entry.
For the 2015/2016 season Phase 8 recognised the potential in future star, Matt Campbell, helping the Queenslander to third in 2015 Championship and latterly supporting him to seal the 2016 Championship for McElrea Racing.
Phase 8 continued to support the best emerging talent in 2017 and 2018, culminating in Jaxon Evans winning the 2018 Championship title. Like Campbell two years earlier, Evans’ performance would see him go onto compete and win the Porsche Junior Driver scholarship in Europe and set them both up for international racing careers abroad.
In 2020 Phase8 have further increased their involvement in Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup and the McElrea Racing team by securing the naming rights sponsorship on the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car of Cooper Murray in his quest to take the 2020 title.
Now in his second season, Murray will be a strong contender for victory this year and look to build upon the pace and strong performances he displayed in the second half of the 2019 season.

This celebration of skill and performance combined with the love of engineering is why Phase 8 are so passionate about supporting this fantastic sport. We look forward to watching Cooper follow in the footsteps on of previous Phase 8 drivers Matt Campbell and Jaxon Evans.

“It’s a privilege to have Phase 8 on board as my naming rights sponsor for 2020, they have sponsored previous McElrea champions, so for them to put their trust in me for my 2020 campaign is awesome!”
