PGA and European Tour regular Poulter joins star-studded line-up for #NotTheBahGP

  • Ian Poulter becomes latest non-motorsport celebrity to sign up
  • Self-confessed ‘petrolhead’ applauds ‘brilliant concept’
  • Entry list for second race continues to go from strength-to-strength
Ian Poulter is the latest in a long list of high-profile sporting heroes to sign up for #NotTheBahGP, Veloce Esports’ answer to the current lack of real-world motorsport events and subsequent demand for wheel-to-wheel racing action.

As a regular attendee of Formula 1 races and a keen car enthusiast – often participating in events such as ‘The Ferrari 288 GTO Tour’ – Poulter jumped at the chance to go head-to-head with real-world motorsport superstars such as Lando Norris and Stoffel Vandoorne.

The world-renowned pro golfer’s Instagram post – ‘How do I get in on this action… Would be awesome to race against the guys’ – reflected his interest in the event. What’s more, as the owner of a racing simulator himself, he is perfectly equipped to join the grid for Veloce Esports’ second virtual grand prix around the Bahrain International Circuit.

With the entry list filling up fast, Poulter joins fellow sportsman and Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, influencer and racing driver Felix von der Laden and #NotTheAusGP winner Daniel Bereznay among others.

All of the action from #NotTheBahGP can be followed live via the Veloce Esports YouTube and Twitch channels, with the race set to start at 18:00 GMT. Keep up-to-date with all key timings and driver announcements via Veloce Esports’ various social media platforms.

Ian Poulter, Pro-Golfer, said:

“As an avid follower of Formula 1 and a huge petrolhead, I love to jump into my simulator from time to time and having the opportunity to drive in Veloce Esports’ #NotTheBahGP is extremely exciting.

“The chance to race with Lando [Norris], Stoffel [Vandoorne] and the rest of the guys would normally never happen. Plus, adding in sporting icons like Thibaut [Courtois] and major YouTubers and esports drivers is a brilliant concept which will capture a very diverse audience. Now it’s time to get some practice in!”
