Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park Rescheduled to September 11-12, 2020
LAKEVILLE, Conn. (June 25, 2020)—The International Motorsports Association (IMSA) and Lime Rock Park have agreed to reschedule the Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park to Sept. 11-12, 2020 as part of further adjustments to the IMSA calendar. The event had previously been moved from its traditional July date to Oct. 30-31, 2020, but today IMSA has announced further date changes for three of its upcoming WeatherTech Championship and Michelin Pilot Challenge races including Lime Rock Park.
In addition, IMSA announced the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen event weekend will now be held on Labor Day weekend, Sept. 4-6, 2020, and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca will now host the series on Oct. 30-Nov. 1, 2020.
Along with the date change, the Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock will now include a pair of 45-minute Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama races as well as the two-hour, 40-minute WeatherTech Championship with the GT Le Mans (GTLM) and GT Daytona (GTD) classes and the two-hour Michelin Pilot Challenge race.
“These revisions to our 2020 schedules put all of IMSA’s stakeholders in the best possible position for success,” said IMSA President John Doonan. “They are also the result of the ongoing spirit of collaboration with our promoter partners. Moving our Northeastern events into September should pay dividends from the standpoint of weather.”
Lime Rock Park President Skip Barber further expressed the Park’s commitment to holding a 2020 season all while protecting fans, participants and staff. “Lime Rock Park is currently open to private events and we’re working diligently on plans to host our first spectator event on Labor Day weekend. The 38th annual Historic Festival will take place on Sept. 3-7, and while some aspects of the event may be altered to ensure everyone’s safety, the weekend should provide a much-needed opportunity for fans to experience a live race.”
Along with holding the Northeast Grand Prix on the weekend following its Historic Festival, the Park will hold the Trans Am SpeedTour Classic on Oct. 16-18, 2020.
