Corey Mason Tops the Competition and the Weather at Riverside

GROVETON, N.H.- Stark N.H.’s Corey Mason put his Colebrook Repair Center, Mr. Pizza Chevrolet in victory lane Saturday night at Riverside Speedway and Adventure Park in the Late Model division. Mason battled wheel to wheel for many laps with the #3 of Mike Kenison before wrestling the lead away on lap 23 and drove away from the rest of the field for his first victory of the season. Point leader Shawn Swallow picked his way through the field and brought the Swallow and Son’s Concrete machine in the second spot with Gilman, Vermont’s Jeff Marshall finishing in the third spot in his Knudson Salvage Chevrolet.

In the Scottie Fraziers 2ToGo Show, Flying Tigers Jason Kenison’s first race of the 2020 season was a memorable one as he picked up the win in the DK-N-Son’s Chevrolet. Rowdy Brad Bushey finished in the second spot again this week with last week’s winner Nick Gilcris in the Tallmadge Plumbing and Heating Buick finishing third.

In the EKeys For Cars Formula Fours, Groveton’s Chris Caron recovered from a flat tire in his heat race to pick up another main event win. Zack Audet put his #9 in to finish second, with MeKaylah Bowen picking up third.

The Lil Rascals Dwarf car feature started out rough for Brenna Humphrey as she spun the 21 on lap #3. Justin Stacey got the lead on the 5th lap and didn’t look back as he picked up another win. Roger Edgecomb brought the #1X home in second while Brenna Humphrey recovered from another spin on lap #14 to finish the night in third.

The White Mountains Community College Bone Stock 4 cylinders, had a rough start as it took three restarts to get going. When everything sorted out, the #38 of Ryan Heuser found his way to the front for another win. Maine’s Jamie Heath made the long tow to Riverside Speedway worth it. He started last on the field to finish second, and Derby Vermont’s Kyle Willis came home third in the Columbia Forest Products Machine.

The tip of the hat this week goes out to the racers and fans for sticking it out despite all the bad weather predictions. The Gardiner and June Leavitt ACT memorial race will be rescheduled. No racing this coming week at Riverside Speedway. The Monster Massacre Monster Truck show will take place this Saturday, July 18, with a pit party at 10:00 am and a band to finish the day. Hope to see you there.
