White Mountain Welcomes North East Mini Stock Tour This Saturday

NEMST Visit Starts Another Strong Stretch of Big Events

N. Woodstock, NH — Good things will arrive in small packages this Saturday, July 25 at White Mountain Motorsports Park. The North East Mini Stock Tour (NEMST) is making the trip to Northern New Hampshire, bringing the fastest four-cylinder cars and drivers in the region for the King of the Mountain 50 in North Woodstock.

For more than a decade, NEMST has been where drivers can go on the road and be the stars in what had previously been an entry-level division. The Tour has become a regular at White Mountain in recent years with teams from throughout the region taking a scenic drive to the fast quarter-mile.

Another strong field is anticipated this Saturday with former champions Cody LeBlanc and Emerson Cayer, recent Riverside Speedway winner Matt Sonnhalter, and veteran Des Skilling among the expected entries. Their season-opening event was decided in the final corners and fans are in for another thrilling show on Saturday.

A full card of racing is also on tap for the Foley Oil & Propane Late Models, Wells River Chevrolet Flying Tigers, Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Stock Mini’s, and 7-Eleven Dwarf Cars. With the Midseason Championships now in the rear-view mirror, the championship contenders are emerging for the rest of the summer.

Eight-time and defending Late Model Champion Quinny Welch of Groveton, NH sits atop the standings once again. However, a ninth title is anything but assured. Fellow veterans Oren Remick of Monroe, NH and Stacy Cahoon of St. Johnsbury, VT are both within 20 points of Welch. The younger generation is also making waves with Joel Hodgdon and Christian Laflamme both capturing wins already and Matthew Morrill sitting fourth in points.

Hardwick, VT’s Jaden Perry is looking to pull off a rare double in the Flying Tigers. Perry leads the White Mountain point standings by 16 over two-time defending champion Shane Sicard and also tops the Thunder Road Flying Tiger points. We’ll have plenty of competition as Mike Clark vaulted back into the conversation with last Saturday’s double-point win and rookie Kasey Beattie has showed he’s ready for the big-time.

The Strictly Stock Mini’s have been a two-man dance between 49-year-old Brett Jackson of Bethlehem, NH and 16-year-old Tyler Thompson of Littleton, NH. Thompson has shown the best raw speed with three victories in point-counting events. Jackson, whose son Dustin won last year’s title, has been more consistent with top-five finishes in every feature. In the Dwarf Cars, Easton, NH’s Jason Wyman has won both point-counting events while Gilmanton, NH’s Tommy Smithers took the non-point Dwarf Car Open last weekend.

Saturday’s event is the prelude to another hot stretch of racing in the White Mountains. Saturday, August 1 at 5:30pm, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour makes its second visit of the year. The top Modified racers in the region are again expected to be on hand for 200 laps of pulse-racing action in the White Mountain Showdown 200. They’ll be joined by the Late Models, Flying Tigers, and Dwarf Cars.

The following weekend is another doubleheader at White Mountain. Saturday, August 8 at 5:30pm is the Midsummer Classic for the American-Canadian Tour with 250 laps and $10,000 to win for New England’s Late Model standouts. Then on Sunday, August 9 at 1:30pm, the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models go 150 laps in their fourth visit of the year to White Mountain.

Six other divisions are spread across the Midsummer Classic weekend, including visits from Thunder Road’s Allen Lumber Street Stocks and Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors on the Sunday card. Advance ticket sales and camping reservations for both the White Mountain Showdown and Midsummer Classic are available at www.happsnow.com/event/White-Mountain-Motorsports-Park.

White Mountain Motorsports Park welcomes the North East Mini Stock Tour this Saturday, July 25 at 6:00pm. The King of the Mountain 50 four-cylinder showdown highlights a program that also includes championship racing for the Foley Oil & Propane Late Models, Wells River Chevrolet Flying Tigers, Woodsville Guaranty Savings Bank Strictly Stock Mini’s, and 7-Eleven Dwarf Cars. Admission is $15 for adults, $3 for kids ages 6-12, and $30 for a family of four (2 adults, 2 kids).
