Stockley Tavern Offers $2,000 “Double-Down” Challenge for STSS August Sweep
DELMAR, DE – The month of August is lucrative for the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco in Delaware.
And it just got even better.
Stockley Tavern, located just south of Georgetown Speedway on Route 113, has issued the ‘Delaware Double-Down’ Challenge. The challenge applies to the upcoming STSS Modified Hurlock Auto & Speed ‘Diamond State 50’ at Delaware International Speedway Tuesday, Aug. 11 and the ‘Blast at the Beach’ at Georgetown Speedway Tuesday, Aug. 25.
Should one driver sweep the ‘Diamond State 50’ and ‘Blast at the Beach’ feature events with back-to-back victories, that competitor will receive a cash bonus of $2,000!
If a single driver is not able to win both events, the driver with the best average finish between the two races will take home $1,000. The tiebreaker will be the finishing order of the ‘Blast at the Beach’ event at Georgetown.
“This is a lucrative incentive program tying together our two August events in the state of Delaware,” STSS promoter Brett Deyo said. “Linking the events together will only create more excitement for the fans and provide another avenue to cash in for our racers.”
Stockley Tavern is your neighborhood bar and package store for nearly 70 years offering the “coldest beer in town” and a delicious menu. The newly renovated package store features walk-in coolers stocked with domestic, import and micro-brewed beers in addition to wines and spirits.

The ‘Diamond State 50’ – a traditional event at the Cathell family’s Delaware International Speedway – annually brings the Northeast’s biggest stars to Delmarva to compete at the half-mile clay oval.
The STSS Modifieds take part in Race No. 5 of the Velocita-USA South Region presented by Design for Vision and Sunglass Central in a 50-lap event offering a total purse structure of more than $25,000 ($5,000 to win, $1,000 for 10th and $400 to take the green).
STSS Crate 602 Sportsman, Delmarva Chargers and Delaware Super Trucks complete the program.
Matt Sheppard (STSS Modified) and Jim Housworth (STSS Crate 602 Sportsman) topped the ‘Diamond State 50’ winners a year ago.
Two weeks after the ‘Diamond State 50’ attention turns approximately 20 miles to the northeast when the historic Georgetown Speedway plays host to the ‘Blast at the Beach’ annual co-promotion involving BD Motorsports Media LLC and Eric Kormann on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
This event has been run annually at Georgetown since 2014.
STSS Modifieds race for a $6,000 winner’s share in a 35-lap battle around the progressively banked clay track. STSS Crate 602 Sportsman, Delmarva Chargers and Delaware Super Trucks complete the program.
Billy Pauch Jr. (STSS Modified) and Thomas Sherby (STSS Crate 602 Sportsman) were last year’s ‘Blast at the Beach’ winners.
