ATQMRA Up-To Speed 8/12/2020

I am reaching out to give some more general updates for Bethel coming up this weekend-
Bethel Schedule:
I spoke with some of the track officials today, they said they generally have their race day schedule of events done on Friday. So the chances are I will not have an order of events until late Friday or Saturday. I apologize in advance as you know how I like to plan ahead. However, we are at the track’s mercy on their schedule and it is their prerogative if they choose to make it late in the week.
Just keep in mind the pit gates open at 3:00 PM, with practice rounds beginning at 4:30 PM.
I recommend arriving at the track around 2:00 PM. Bethel’s trailer line is usually rather long and the sign-in/parking process takes awhile if you show up late. At least by showing up early you give yourself a decent chance of finding a good parking spot.
When parking, please keep in mind many of Bethel’s pit stalls are reserved and have signs in front of them. Please avoid parking in these spots, unless given the “ok” from a track official. This will avoid the potential scenario where you would have to move your trailer after already being parked and unloaded.

Sign-In Procedure:
This is my 2nd reminder on this. When signing-in at the pit booth, please be specific with your affiliation (ATQMRA-Car#). As an example, myself and everyone in my party will write “ATQMRA-22” when signing the credential sheet to receive our wristband.
Just for clarity, this has nothing to do with COVID or some sort of Government tracking system. Last year there were some miscommunications with Bethel’s *former* PR rep on how many folks we were bringing with us into the back-gate. In an effort to improve communication and transparency, we really want to make sure we know how many folks are attending the race with us this weekend. With that being said, I highly encourage you to invite your friends and family to take a trip to Bethel this Saturday!!
Bethel Masks:
2nd reminder on this too- According to Bethel’s website masks are required on the property. The ATQMRA will mandate masks being worn at the Driver’s Meeting and when signing in/purchasing products at the Sload trailer. Beyond that, you are at the liberty of the track and their staff. Furthermore, you are responsible for your own health and safety in your trailer, pits and general property of the track. Please practice social distancing when possible.
Handicap/ Pill Draw Procedures:
This Saturday at Bethel will be our last race of the season to feature a pill draw with the exception of Turkey Derby which has its annual unique format. Beginning at our fourth race, which as of right now is September 5th at Wall Stadium, handicap will go into effect for that race and the remainder of the season.
For both Handicap and Pill Draw Races:
Field of 13 cars or less: 2 heats, Top-4 Qualify
Field of 14-18 cars: 2 heats, Top-5 Qualify
Field of 19 cars or more: 3 heats, Top-5 Qualify
I will email the up-to-date handicap to everyone next week.
Waterford:
We expect to have a confirmed Waterford date by the end of this week. Buddy has been in communication with the track. It appears things are going well up there. I stopped by the track a couple of weeks back on my way to New Hampshire for the Cup race; the facility and their upgrades looked fantastic. We are certainly excited to make a trip to Connecticut sometime this fall. I will update you all on a date as soon as possible.
Recent Press Releases:
Multiple Season Debuts Expected for JJ Lane Memorial August 5, 2020 by ATQMRA
We had a great turnout at Wall. Let’s do it again at Bethel. Considering three months ago we didn’t even know if we would have a season, the ATQMRA has put on two real nice events to start the year. Everything we do right this year will only help us grow next year and beyond. Everyone’s effort to make this year a reality is greatly appreciated as we all play our own unique role. Let’s keep the momentum going this weekend!
