Bacon Sets Sights on Gas City & the Hoosier Hundred this Weekend
WINCHESTER, Ind. (August 21, 2020) – Another busy weekend of racing action is on tap for Brady Bacon.
Bacon will take the seat of the Longworth No. 410 non-wing Sprint Car for Friday night’s “Candyman Classic” at Gas City I-69 Speedway that offers up a pair of $2,020-to-win feature events.
Then following an idle Saturday night, Bacon takes to the Indianapolis State Fairgrounds one-mile oval for USAC Silver Crown’s “Hoosier Hundred” aboard the potent Klatt Enterprises No. 6 machine.
“The Macho Man” has spent time aboard both cars in recent weeks, driving the Longworth entry from seventh to third at Gas City last Friday night.
The previous Sunday, Bacon timed in third-quick in the Silver Crown debut at Pennsylvania’s Selinsgrove Speedway and then finished the night out seventh in tire conservation mode over the final portion of the race.
On that same night, Bacon enjoyed his seventh victory of the season by besting the USAC East Coast non-wing Sprint Car ranks.
The Selinsgrove double on Sunday, August 9, came on the heels of the debut of the Hoffman Racing Fatheadz Eyewear winged No. 69 Sprint Car at the Knoxville 360 Nationals in Iowa. It was an outing that came to an abrupt halt after a promising start to the weekend.
Bacon began his 360 Nationals by timing in sixth-quickest before missing a transfer by just one position. Gridding the “B” Main outside the front row, Bacon was positioned to move on to “A” Main action only to have a lapped car slip out of the groove and launch Bacon into the outside retaining fence exiting turn two. While there was little left of the car, Bacon fortunately walked away unscathed.
With strong runs in both the Longworth and Klatt machines over the past two weekends, Bacon looks to add another notch or more to the win column this weekend.
