Updated Schedule Set for Presque Isle Downs & Casino Race of Champions Weekend at Lake Erie Speedway Featuring the 70th Annual “Race of Champions 250”

North East, PA – (August 21, 2020) – The schedule for the September event at Lake Erie Speedway has been revised. The Presque Isle Downs & Casino Race of Champions Weekend at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pennsylvania will now take place on Friday, September 25; Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27. The schedule includes the running of the 70th Annual “Race of Champions 250” for the Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series. The event includes three days filled with racing and festivities. The move eliminates conflict from another Series which scheduled directly against the 70th Annual Race of Champions 250 that was previously scheduled for Saturday, September 26.
Friday, September 25: Practice will take place on Friday, September 25, with gates opening at 1:00 pm and practice from 4:00 pm until dusk for all divisions.
Saturday, September 26; Racing will include the Race of Champions Asphalt Sportsman Modified Series in the 54-lap “Crown Royal” Classic tribute to Joe Reilly event. The Race of Champions Super Stock Series will compete in a 40-lap event that will complete their season. The Saturday event schedule is still being assembled in completion due to the change, however, the gates will open at 10:00 am, with practice beginning at 12:00 pm (Noon) and qualifying beginning at 2:30 pm.\
Sunday, September 27; The featured event will be the running of the 70th Annual “Race of Champions 250”. The event features 250 exciting laps of action for racing enthusiasts and is the second-longest consecutive auto-racing event to take place each year in North America, second only to the Indianapolis 500. . The Saturday event schedule is still being assembled in completion due to the change, however, the gates will open at 9:00 am, with practice beginning at 11:30 am and qualifying beginning at 1:15 pm.
All Race of Champions asphalt Series will take part in the event, however, due to the schedule change and timing, the overall event schedule is being redesigned and will be released shortly.
Tickets may be purchased for the weekend and will be available at the Lake Erie Speedway ticket office or at www.lakeeriespeedway.com. In the event that there is inclement weather, the event will be postponed to 2021, due to the prior commitment to Mahoning Valley Speedway and their Race of Champions Modified Series event on Saturday, October 3, with an agreed-upon and announced inclement weather date of Saturday, October 10.

If you plan to attend the weekend and camp at the facility, spots will be sold at the track for the designated camping areas for $40 for the entire weekend. Camping will go up to $50 after September 1st..
