Novelis Returns as Title Sponsor of James Shutts Memorial at Weedsport Kartway
OSWEGO, NY (September 1, 2020) – Dan Kapuscinski Motorsports Promotions is pleased to announce the return of Novelis as the title sponsor of the James Shutts Memorial Super Heavy karting event, which will take place in 2020 at Weedsport Kartway on Sunday, September 20.
Thanks to the support of Novelis, the James Shutts Memorial, which was already set to pay $722 to the winner, will now guarantee a full field purse with a minimum of $60 going to all drivers that qualify.
“It means a lot to welcome back Novelis as the title sponsor of this great event, for the third straight year,” said James Shutts Memorial Promoter, Dan Kapuscinski. “This year’s event is set to be the largest yet, with drivers from across the region expected to attend and battle for more than $2,600 in prize money.”
Thanks to the help of Novelis, Weedsport Kartway, Mike Babcock Racing, Slack Karts, Performance Manufacturing, and Dan Kapuscinski Motorsports Promotions; competitors in the James Shutts Memorial will compete for a guaranteed purse, among other prizes.
The James Shutts Memorial will be a big-pipe, open clutch, Super Heavy (200/400) Clone event. Drivers must weigh a minimum of 200 lbs. with racing gear.
This year’s event will follow a standard PRO format at Weedsport with time trials setting the lineup for a 22-lap main event. The day’s fastest qualifier will earn $122 from Dan Kapuscinski Motorsports Promotions, with the second-fastest qualifier earning $22 from Chance Weaver Racing.
The winner on September 20 will receive guaranteed purse monies of $500 from Weedsport Kartway and $222 from Mike Babcock Racing, as well as the coveted machined James Shutts Memorial trophy from Performance Manufacturing.
A $60 pre-entry fee will be posted for the event, with a $65 day of entry.
