URC Sprints Make Only 2020 Appearance Sept. 11, Modifieds Battle for $3,000 Top Prize
GEORGETOWN, DE – For the first – and only – time in 2020, the potent United Racing Club (URC) 360 Sprint Cars tackle Georgetown Speedway on Friday, September 11.
The progressively banked half-mile oval returns to action on the 11th with the first URC appearance since the speedway was resurfaced following the mid-March season opener. URC competitors will battle in qualifying races and a lightning-fast 25-lap main event.
Josh Weller of Mertztown, Pa., has won the last two URC 360 Sprint Car visits to Georgetown. Last year, he defeated Chad Layton, J.J. Grasso, Austin Bishop, and Delaware resident Curt Michael.
L&J Sheet Metal Modifieds return to the speedway following a highly entertaining ‘Blast at the Beach’ event on Aug. 25. The big-block/small-block Modified contingent race for a $3,000 winner’s share and Sunoco Championship Series points.
L&J Sheet Metal Modified winners this season have included Stewart Friesen (March 7 and Aug. 25), Billy Pauch Jr. (July 24), Rick Laubach (June 13), and Billy Dunn (Small-Block, March 8).
RUSH Late Models return for the first time since July 24 in a 20-lap, $1,000-to-win special.

Completing the program, in 12-lap features, are Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, Little Lincolns, Delmarva Chargers and Delaware Super Trucks.
Gates open at 5 p.m. Hot laps hit the track at 6:40 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m.
Grandstand admission is $20 for Adults, $16 for Seniors (ages 65 and up) and Students (ages 13-17), $10 for Kids (ages 9-12) and Children 8 and under are FREE. Dirt Track Digest TV (www.dirttrackdigest.tv) will be live for those unable to attend in person.
Pit admission is $35. Kids (ages 6-12 pay $10. Children 5 and under pay $2.
The speedway will be following CDC guidelines and social distancing requirements for the State of Delaware.
Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
