Bacon Captures USAC Sprint Car Points Lead – Double Duty at Lake Ozark this Weekend

WINCHESTER, Ind. (September 4, 2020) – Kokomo Speedway victory lane continues to elude Brady Bacon.

But three consecutive nights of top-five runs at last weekend’s Kokomo Sprint Car Smackdown vaulted Bacon and the Hoffman Racing Fatheadz Eyewear No. 69 Sprint Car team to the top rung of the USAC National Sprint Car series points.

Bacon will get to enjoy that lead for at least one more weekend.  With the USAC Sprint Cars idle this weekend, Bacon ventures to Eldon, Missouri’s Lake Ozark Speedway for a weekend of double-duty in the LOS 360 Nationals as well as the WAR Sprint Cars on both Saturday and Sunday.

Last weekend’s Smackdown began with Bacon timing in second-quickest among his qualifying group and then earning a transfer through heat race action before finishing out the night with a runner-up finish in the feature event.

“The Macho Man” had to work harder on Friday night, gridding the feature 13th after timing in fifth-fastest in his group.  Bacon made the most of it, rallying from seven rows deep to capture a fifth-place finish and secure a position in Saturday night’s “King of the Hill” pole shuffle.

Bacon topped the King of the Hill to earn the pole position for the feature and led the way for 27 of 40 circuits before slipping to fourth in the closing circuits.

Now in position to capture a third USAC Sprint Car title, series action resumes at Bloomington and Putnamville in Indiana next week on September 11-12.

But first, it’s time for some winged 360-ci and non-wing 410-ci WAR action at Lake Ozark Speedway this weekend.
