Luke LeBrun Pockets $1,000 Check in Labor Day Spectacular

SEEKONK, Mass. — With a $1,000 check on the line, Luke Lebrun knew he needed to be in a spot to capture the big check. Friday, Lebrun drove a Nick Lascuola Racing rental ride and rolled it right into Victory Lane in the Nick Lascuola Racing Summer Showdown as part of the Labor Day Spectacular.

The Fast Friday program continued with its first race in the month of September, still without fans due to COVID-19 restrictions from the state of Massachusetts.

Lebrun was the fastest in qualifying, which earned him $140 courtesy of Nick’s Pit Stop. He drew a four-car invert, and it wasn’t long before he took the top spot. He passed Jake Johnson for the lead on lap 13 and led the rest of the distance.

Johnson, who had won the week before, started third and took the lead on lap three. However, with the Legends Cars switching to Hoosier Tires for the first time by rule, Johnson didn’t quite have the handling he needed. He would cross the line second, over two seconds back, while Carson Ferguson, Josh Parsons, and Giovanni Ruggerio were third, fourth, and fifth.

Regan Parent was sixth, followed by Connor Souza, Mason Tessier, Jacob Burns and Derek Gluchacki.

As part of the major event, multiple sponsors provided awards. Newcomb’s Tree Service, Keller Motorsports, Trent Goodrow Designs, Lebrun and Landscape Construction and Titan Vet Clinic.

The Nick’s Pit Stop Legends Cars return to the track next Friday, September 11, with a 25-lap feature.

Benoit Holds Off Cestodio for Big Money Pure Stock Win

SEEKONK, Mass. — With $350 on the line courtesy of Spring Villa and Lambert Brothers Racing, former Pure Stock champions Doug Benoit and Scott Cestodio weren’t about to give an inch. In the end, it was Benoit edging Cestodio by just a car length at the finish to take down the cash.

The Fast Friday program continued with its first race in the month of September, still without fans due to COVID-19 restrictions from the state of Massachusetts.

Benoit started outside the top-five, but worked his way to the second spot by lap 10, then inherited the lead on lap 16 when Danny Massa had to give up the lead due to a piece of his body hanging off the car. In the final laps, Benoit was trying to navigate a bit of lapped traffic, while Cestodio started his chase to try and find a way by.

It wasn’t enough, as Cestodio would have to settle for second, behind Benoit, who earned his third victory of the season. Jeremy Lambert finished third, after leading the early laps, followed by Mike Henriques and Massa. Unfortunately for Massa, after taking the lead on lap nine, he would lead until lap 14, when contact with a lapped car knocked some of his body. He would have to head to the pits and fix it and charge back to finish fifth.

Tommy Blackwell was sixth, followed by Arthur Meack, Sam Lincoln, Jared Cordeira, and Emily Brightman.

The Pure Stocks return to the track next Friday, September 11, with a 25-lap feature.

Jordan Lopes Returns to Winning Form in Sport 4

SEEKONK, Mass. — Jordan Lopes made a return to Seekonk Speedway’s Sport 4 division, and made it count, picking up the victory in the 30-lap feature as part of the Spring Villa Bonus race program. Lopes started inside the top five, and quickly worked his way to the front, taking the lead from former champion Dave Westgate on lap 12 for the final time and never looking back.

The Fast Friday program continued with its first race in the month of September, still without fans due to COVID-19 restrictions from the state of Massachusetts.

Daniel Hays and Westgate led the 16-car field to the green flag, with Westgate jumping out to the lead early, and setting the pace. Once Lopes got to the top spot, Crystal Murray would follow through to second, making her return to competition after heading off to college. It looked like the race would go green until the end, but a caution in the final 10 laps gave everyone one more chance at Lopes.

It wasn’t meant to be, as Lopes carried the checkered flag in his return to Seekonk action, with Tyler Almeida charging through to finish second. Tyler Duhancik would finish third, while Murray and Mike Lefort, using a borrowed ride, would finish fifth. Samantha Mattera, Henry Lavalle, Jared Bigos, Christine Cavallaro and Jack Dumas rounded out the top 10.

Courtesy of Spring Villa, Lopes collected $150 for his victory, while Almeida earned $100 and Duhancik collected $50.

The Sport 4’s return to the track next Friday, September 11, with a 25-lap feature.

Reese Bogue Takes Win Three in Bandolero Outlaws

SEEKONK, Mass. — Reese Bogue is back in Victory Lane.

The Groton, Connecticut, driver took down his third win of 2020 after contact with Nick Chaber Jr. in the final laps in the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Outlaw feature. The Fast Friday program continued with its first race in the month of September, still without fans due to COVID-19 restrictions from the state of Massachusetts.

Stephen Bowden jumped out to the early lead from his pole starting position and led the first four laps, before the first caution of the race flew. Under caution, Bowden’s car shutdown on him, sending him pit side for the remainder of the event. That would hand the lead to the No. 00 of Chaber, looking for his first win of the year.

On the restart, Chaber jumped out in front of Bogue, followed by the No. 22 of Isaiah Newcomb, and the No. 27 of Nicholaus Bulkeley. Chaber and Bogue battled intensely for the next eight laps, until lap 13, when Bogue made a move to the inside of Chaber and the two made contact entering turn one, giving Bogue the top spot as the caution waved.

Bogue outdueled Newcomb on the final restart in the final two laps to take the win, while Bulkeley was third, Chaber fourth and Joey Lemay fifth. Aubrey Keller was sixth, followed by Olivia Dardinski, Bowden and Brenden LaBelle.

The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Outlaws will continue the 2020 season next Friday, September 11, with the first green flag of the evening at 7pm.

Darren Krantz Jr Nabs Second Win of Bandolero Bandit Season

SEEKONK, Mass. — Darren Krantz Jr., of Huntington Station, New York, made his return after a couple of weeks absence and made his presence known — picking up his second win of the season in commanding fashion on Friday night.

Krantz made his way to the front throughout the opening laps of the race, before taking command from the No. 8 of Ethan Dion on a lap five restart to win the Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandit feature.

The Fast Friday program continued with its first race in the month of September, still without fans due to COVID-19 restrictions from the state of Massachusetts.

The 15-lap race was slowed by a few early cautions, before Krantz took control and pulled out to a sizeable lead over Dion, the No. 22 of Joel Newcomb, and previous winner Richie Helger Jr. As the laps wound down, Krantz continued to distance himself from his competition, while Helger was working his way to the front, first passing Newcomb for third. Then, with a last lap pass on Dion, Helger would take second at the finish, behind Krantz. Dion was third, followed by Newcomb and Brent Robidoux.

The Seekonk Grand Prix Bandolero Bandits will continue the 2020 season next Friday, September 11, with the first green flag of the evening at 7pm.
