Sunday Funday Offered Plenty of Excitement for the Fans on Hand
The day’s activities of the final event for the Mike Estrada State Farm 4/6 Cylinder 125 lap Enduro, the 4 Cylinder and 6/8 Cylinder Demolitions, plus the ever-popular Flyin Ryan the Home wrecking bringing down the house with his band of merry men were all sponsored by Dad’s 4 By Tool and Supply.
There were eighty registered cars in the pits for the final event for the Mike Estrada State Farm 4/6 Cylinder Enduro, with seventy-nine taking the green. The special 125 lap event provided plenty of action for the fans with rollovers/spins/and thrills throughout the race. The entry list was a bit of a who’s who, with several of the Ridge’s regular competitors from other divisions signing up for the fun. Jason Porter, Bobby Bell, Katie Burroughs, Devin Bell, Shawn Bell, Hayden Bishop Devin Spinks, Kevin LaForest, Cary Hunter, Donald Champney, and Garrett Brown from the Peanuts Auto Four Cylinders Ryan, Troy Prentice from the LaValley’s Building Supply Dirt Stockers, Josh Harrington from the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes, and Ryan Christian, Chris Murray, and Mike Ryan from the DIRTcar Sabil & Sons Sportsman Modifieds. Fifteen of the seventy-nine drivers made it to the 100 lap mark with two making it the complete 125 laps. When the checkers waved Bobby Bell was crowned the winner with Mike Ryan taking second. Donald Champney one of the youngest drivers in the event took the final victory lane spot. Matt Goodwin and Darren Newland rounded out the top five.
This year we were honored to be able to co-host our Demolition Derbys with the Caledonian County Fair Demolition team. Led by Toby Lussier, they put on two Demolition Derbys one for the 4 cylinders and one for the 6/8 cylinder classes. A record number of cars were on hand for their events, setting up several heats and a last chance derby to determine the final meets for both divisions. When the smoke settled on each of the events the 4 cylinder demo winner the youngest competitor entered was Chevy Bandy of Lyndonville VT. Jaden Mearty and Doug Bandy finished second and third. In the 6/8 cylinder demo Richie Johnson of Middleboro MA in a 6 cylinder was declared the winner. Chris Roy and Ryan Bernard finished second and third. We want to thank Toby and his crew for putting on this well run, very successful event. All of us at the Ridge enjoyed being able to work with you and we know the fans loved it too.
The fans were also afforded the “show of the day” as Flyin Ryan with this time a band of merry men took to driving thru a camper, not once but 5 times, one for each person in the car. They ended their trips driving thru a boat, and then waved as they drove by the fans down the front stretch into the night.
This concludes our 2020 COVID-19 Racing season at the Ridge. The doors will swing closed on the facility for the winter months and get ready for a hopefully better year in 2021. Our 2021 racing season is scheduled to kick into action on May 8. 2021.
