Caraway Speedway to Host CARS Solid Rock Carriers Late Model Stock Tour May 22
(Sophia, NC 1/4/21): Caraway Speedway and the Championship Auto Racing Series (CARS) are proud to announce the addition of the speedway to the 2021 CARS Tour schedule. The event, to be held on May 22nd, will feature the Late Model Stock Cars that were so popular in the past at the .455 mile high-banked track. Caraway Speedway joins “The Rock” as new tracks on the 2021 Solid Rock Carriers CARS Tour schedule.
The Solid Rock Carriers CARS Tour is one of the premier short track series in the US. The Late Model Stock Car teams compete in NC, SC, and VA and feature some of the finest LMSC talent in the region. 62 different drivers competed in the LMSC division including 2020 division Champion, Jarred Fryar, and runner-up Lane Riggs along with Deac McCaskill, Bobby McCarty, Josh Berry, Chad McCumbee, and Mini Tyrrell. Several drivers with Caraway Speedway experience also competed during the 2020 CARS Tour season including Tommy Lemmons, Jr, Ross “Boo Boo” Dalton, Trevor Ward, and Stacy Puryear. Many of those same drivers will see action at Caraway in May.
“We are looking forward to hosting the Solid Rock Carriers CARS Tour Late Model Stock Cars in 2021,” said track owner Darren Hackett. “2020 has been a trying time for Caraway Speedway and the sport in general. We managed to adjust to limitations on events due to the COVID-19 Pandemic as did Jack McNelly and his team and as we prepare for 2021, we will all work toward rebuilding from 2020. The addition of the CARS Tour fits with the Caraway promise to give our fans the best in short track competition and perfectly into our “Fab Five” specials for 2021 that includes, in addition to the CARS Tour, three SMART Modified Tour events and the 19th Annual North-South Shootout in November of 2021” Hackett said.
“We are happy to fill out our 2021 schedule with the series’ first-ever event at Caraway Speedway. This is one of the only tracks in North Carolina that we haven’t visited yet, so it’s something new to look forward to in 2021. Darren (Hackett) and his entire group seem totally focused on bringing Caraway back to the forefront of short track racing in North Carolina with some big events and we are proud to be a part of it. I feel it’s an opportunity for a big event for both our competitors and the fans of the CARS Tour. The track is located right inside our hotbed” area of the Triangle region that always produces large car counts and event bigger fan turnout.”
