Dillon Set for CARS Tour Season Opener March 6th
Mooresville, NC 1/7/20 – For the first time in series history the CARS Tour will open their season in the state of South Carolina, with the series’ first-ever visit to Dillon Motor Speedway for Late Model Stock Cars on March 6th. The addition of Dillon as the season opener comes after the series decision to move the previous season opener at Rockingham Speedway to October 30th.
The 4/10th mile track just off interstate 95 in Dillon, South Carolina is owned and operated by former NASCAR competitor Ron Barfield. Barfield will kick off the track’s 2021 season this weekend with his annual New Year’s Bash for Street Stocks, however; the thought of the CARS Tour hosting their season opener at his facility has him looking toward an exciting future.
“We’ve got a great event to kick off the 2021 season this weekend, but when you talk about hosting the CARS Late Model Stock Car season opener on March 6th it doesn’t get any bigger and better than that,” stated an excited track owner, Ron Barfield. “It is a big thing to have the CARS Tour at our little track here in Dillon, and the fact that it is the season opener is the best possible scenario you could ask for.”
Dillon Motor Speedway will be the third new track to ever host a CARS Tour event, with the other two being Caraway on May 22nd and Rockingham on October 30th. The early March event will complete the 2021 CARS Tour schedule with a record amount of fourteen (14) Late Model Stock Car races and eight (8) Super Late Model races.
“I think this adds to our aggressive and abundant schedule for the 2021 season. The diversity and the advancement of the 2021 schedule should have both fans and competitors excited to watch CARS Tour events this season explained Series Director, Chris Ragle. “I think Dillon makes for a great addition to the schedule and great destination for fans and competitors alike to see the season open at new and unknown facility to Late Model Stock Car regulars.”
