Star Classic to Air On MAVTV in 2021
Prestigious Three-day Weekend Returns with 14 Divisions of Racing
EPPING, N.H. — Star Speedway announced on Wednesday the addition of the Star Classic to Speed51’s Short Track America lineup on MAVTV for the 2021 season. The prestigious three-day weekend, scheduled for September 17-19, will include 14 different divisions, with some of the most intense short-track action New Hampshire will see all season.
The Classic will once again air live to viewers on Speed51.TV, and the enhanced MAVTV broadcast of the ISMA Supermodifieds will be tape-delayed and air at a later date. The broadcast will include multiple camera angles, a pit reporter, on-board cameras and more.
“This is something I have been trying to make happen for five years,” Bobby Webber, owner of Star Speedway, said. “Being on MAVTV is huge for Star. It’s huge for the track to showcase our great racing, and especially for the racers themselves, to be able to promote sponsors on a national TV level. It’s an exciting moment — one that all of us at Star are proud of.”
Star Classic weekend opens on Friday, September 17, with the return of the Granite State Pro Stock Series to headline the night with a 100-lap feature. Last year, Super Late Model stars Joey Pole and Derek Griffith dueled over the final 10 laps, thrilling fans one of the best side-by-side battles of the decade. The series will be joined by the EXIT Realty Pro Trucks, Classic Lites, Street Stocks and Six Shooters, to open the weekend.
On Saturday, September 18, the prestigious open-wheel night returns with the ISMA Supermodifieds headlining, running the Bob Webber Sr. Memorial 125. The Dennis McKennedy Memorial debuts for the 350 Supermodifieds, joined by the NEMA Midgets, NEMA Lites and NELCAR Legends.
The Classic wraps on Sunday the 19th, with the Modified Racing Series for a 100-lapper of their own. Star Speedway’s Late Models, Slingshots and Pure Stocks are also scheduled to compete as part of the finale.
“Adding the Star Classic to this year’s Short Track America schedule will give race fans the chance to witness the fire-breathing ISMA Supermodifieds at one of the baddest bullrings in the nation,” said Speed51 Director of Content Brandon Paul. “We’re excited to expand our relationship with Star Speedway and produce an enhanced, nationally-televised broadcast of the prestigious race that will air on MAVTV.”
Star Speedway’s 2021 schedule includes more than 20 events, including the Star Classic. The Tri Track Open Modified Series will visit Star twice (May 22 and July 24), including the annual SBM race in July. Star’s weekly divisions are back, headlined by the 350 Supermodifieds, while multiple other touring series divisions and special event nights will give fans a bit of everything during the season.
