We’re Back: STSS ‘Sunshine Swing’ Returns to All-Tech Raceway Feb. 8-12, 2022

LAKE CITY, FL – We’re baaaack.

The Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco ‘Sunshine Swing’ will return to All-Tech Raceway in Lake City, Fla., in 2022. Both the STSS Modifieds and STSS Crate 602 Sportsman are invited to join the third edition of the ‘Sunshine Swing.’

For the first time in 2022, the ‘Sunshine Swing’ will be aired on FloRacing (www.floracing.tv) and produced by Dirt Track Digest TV.

All-Tech, located north of Gainesville and west of Jacksonville, hosted the inaugural Florida STSS events in ‘20 but conflicting dates shuffled by the NFL Super Bowl in Tampa sent the STSS elsewhere this past January.

For ‘22, the desired dates were open at All-Tech and discussions between STSS organizer Brett Deyo and All-Tech Raceway promoter Wendell Durrance brought the ‘Sunshine Swing’ back to its original home.

The pristine half-mile will host the STSS from Tues., Feb. 8 through Sat., Feb. 12. Tuesday (Feb. 8) will serve as a practice day with racing scheduled for the following four nights (Feb. 9-12).

“We’ve had calls coming from fans asking us if the Modifieds would be at the track next year during Speedweeks,” Durrance said. “Last year’s schedule kept us from having the Short Track Super Series in 2021, but we’re all looking forward to having them back.”

The ’20 ‘Sunshine Swing’ at All-Tech Raceway saw a pair of New York State drivers – Stewart Friesen (twice) and Erick Rudolph – win the first STSS Modified races in the Sunshine State.

Cresco, Pa.’s Grant Hilfiger joined brothers Michael and Antonio Ballestero in STSS Crate 602 Sportsman Victory Lane. Friesen and Hilfiger won the mini-series points title for the STSS Modifieds and STSS Crate 602 Sportsman, respectively, during the ’20 season.

Forty-three STSS Modifieds and 31 STSS Crate 602 Sportsman towed south to All-Tech in Feb. ‘20 for the inaugural ‘Sunshine Swing’ event.

In January, 46 STSS Modifieds and 37 STSS Crate 602 Sportsman competed at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Fla. Once again, Stewart Friesen and Erick Rudolph went to ‘Sunshine Swing’ Modified Victory Lane; however, Boyertown, Pa.’s Mike Gular joined the party by winning the ‘21 ‘Sunshine Swing’ finale.

Stephen Kemery of Sicklerville, N.J., won two of the three STSS Crate 602 Sportsman events, while Schnecksville Pa.’s, Tanner Van Doren won the third event. Kemery and Rudolph were the 2021 ‘Sunshine Swing’ Champions at the D-shaped Ocala facility.

Stay tuned to the STSS Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram page, along with the series website for updates on the 2022 edition of the ‘Sunshine Swing.’
