Seekonk Speedway to Begin Ticket Sales April 19th
LIMITED CAPACITY EVENTS PLANNED TO OPEN 75TH SEASON OF RACING
SEEKONK, Mass. — Seekonk Speedway announced in March intentions of beginning online ticket sales for limited capacity events for the start of the 2021 season. With the move to Phase 4 of the Massachusetts COVID-19 reopening plan on Monday, March 22, Seekonk Speedway is currently allowed 12% capacity for fans in the grandstands, with hopes of that number increasing during the season. Tickets will be sold mainly online in order to limit the amount of in-person interaction that will take place at the track.
Tickets can be purchased for Opening Day ( Sunday May 2nd – 2 pm Start) by visiting www.seekonktickets.net starting April 19th at 10 am. Limited tickets will be available for those without access to computers at the Track Box office located at the main entrance to the Speedway also on April 19th from 10 am – 2 pm or while supplies last.
Tickets for NASCAR Saturday night races are $15 each for adults, with children 6-12 priced at $5. Any kids five and under will be admitted into the stands free. For Fast Friday, tickets will be $10 for adults, with kids 12 and under entering the grandstands for free. As part of Seekonk Speedway’s reopening plan, which will keep drivers, teams, fans and staff safe, social distancing, mask wearing, frequent hand-washing and more will be the normal as the 2021 season kicks off.
Ticket releases for major race events and Thrill shows will be forthcoming in the weeks leading up to each event based on the attendance allowed by the State of Massachusetts at that time.
Fans can expect some thrilling racing action as the NASCAR divisions get back on the track for the first time in nearly 20 months to open the season on Sunday, May 2. The Fast Friday divisions, who hit the track for 10 races last year during the height of the pandemic with no fans in the grandstands, open their season on May 28. Pro Stocks, Late Models, Sportsman, Sport Trucks and Spectator Drags all set to roar into action.
“We can’t wait to welcome the great race fans of Seekonk Speedway back into the stands for what is sure to be a historic year in many ways,” Ed St. Germain, Director of Business Development, said. “We know there are going to be a few things different about operating with race fans in attendance during the pandemic, but we also know the racing on the track is going to be some of the best we have seen in many years. We can’t wait for May 2.”
As part of Executive Orders from the state of Massachusetts, face coverings are required for those who can’t maintain at least six-feet of distance from others. This will include walking into the facility, roaming the midway and visiting the restrooms and concession stands. An exception will be made when patrons are seated, socially distanced, eating, or drinking. Anytime you move about the facility, you are required to have a face covering on. Similar to the mask mandate, patrons will be asked to be socially distanced at all times, at least six feet away from others, including while seated in the stands and walking around the track. Families and household of up to six people will be allowed to sit together. As of April 11th with capacity restrictions at 12% the Pit area will be separate from the general admission seating area. If you purchase a pit pass you will be restricted to pits only with extra seating made available to an extended pit area.
Since tickets will be purchased in advance, fans will be using printed tickets or mobile E-tickets on their phone for entry. Fans will also be asked to keep up with hand washing at one of the many stations around the speedway. Per the CDC, hand washing, mask wearing and socially distancing are three of the major factors to slow the spread of COVID-19. Those who don’t comply with regulations may be subject to ejection from the speedway.
