$10 Grandstand Admission ‘Fan Appreciation Night’ Set for May 14 at Georgetown Speedway
GEORGETOWN, DE – Georgetown Speedway faithful, you are appreciated.
On Friday, May 14, management of Georgetown Speedway will say “thank you” to fans of the Sussex County half-mile oval with Fan Appreciation Night.
Grandstand admission will be rolled back to $10 for a complete program of Chesapeake Paving Modifieds, First State Chevrolet RUSH Late Models, Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, Little Lincolns, Delaware Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers.
“The Georgetown Speedway fans show up in droves almost every time we open the gates; sometimes even before the gates are open,” Georgetown promoter Brett Deyo explained.
“We just wanted to give the fans something back to show them how much they mean to us.”
Originally scheduled for May 7, the speedway moved Fan Appreciation Night back one week to Friday, May 14 to avoid a conflict for Modified competitors chasing points at both Georgetown and Big Diamond Speedway in Minersville, Pa.
Chesapeake Paving Modifieds race 25 laps for a $3,000 winner’s share, Race No. 2 in the Sunoco Race Fuels Championship Series. RUSH Late Models take part in a $1,000-to-win, 20-lap main event, their third Georgetown points-paying race of the season.
Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, Little Lincolns, Delaware Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers will all compete in 12-lap features.
For the May 14 event, pit gates open at 4 p.m. Grandstand gates are unlocked at 5 p.m. Hot laps begin at 6:20 p.m. and racing gets underway at 7:15 p.m.
Adult admission is $10. Students (ages 13-17) and Seniors (ages 65 and up) pay $8. Kids (ages 9-12) pay $5 and Children 8 and under are FREE.
Pit admission is $35 for those ages 13 and up. Kids (ages 6-12) pay $10 and Children 5 and under pay $2.
Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
