$10 Fan Appreciation Night May 14 at Georgetown Speedway; Sunoco Modifieds Return

GEORGETOWN, DE – Georgetown Speedway roars back to life on Friday, May 14 with ‘Fan Appreciation Night’ at the banked half-mile oval. Fans will be treated to a full night of racing for just $10 General Admission.

The Chesapeake Paving-sponsored Modifieds return to action for the first time since the Melvin L. Joseph Memorial back on March 13. The First State Chevrolet RUSH Late Models will join the Sunoco Modifieds on the Friday night card.

The 25-lap main event for the big-block/small-block Modifieds will pay $3,000 to win, while the RUSH Late Model 20-lap feature will pay $1,000 to the victor.

Both divisions will continue their quest in the Georgetown Speedway Sunoco Race Fuels Championship Series. The Modifieds will be partaking in their second event of the eight-race 2021 championship chase that is worth $2,500 to the champion at the end of the season.

The First State Chevrolet RUSH Late Model Series will be competing in their third of six races in the 2021 season at the Sussex County half-mile. The season-end championship for the Late Models is worth $750.

Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, Little Lincolns, Delaware Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers will all compete in 12-lap features.

For the May 14 event, pit gates open at 4 p.m. Grandstand gates are unlocked at 5 p.m. Hot laps begin at 6:20 p.m. and racing gets underway at 7:15 p.m.

Adult admission is $10. Students (ages 13-17) and Seniors (ages 65 and up) pay $8. Kids (ages 9-12) pay $5 and Children 8 and under are FREE.

Pit admission is $35 for those ages 13 and up. Kids (ages 6-12) pay $10 and Children 5 and under pay $2.

Georgetown Speedway, originally constructed by Melvin L. Joseph in 1949, is located at the intersection of Route 113 and Speedway Road in Georgetown, Del., just miles from the Delaware beaches and less than a 40-minute drive from Ocean City, Md.
