54th Opening Night at the Ridge Goes in the Record Books a Huge Success

COVID 19 vaccination pop up station deemed a huge win

It was a full day of activities and racing action with festivities starting at the Bradford Fair Grounds with over half the cars in competition opening night showing off their machines for the many fans who stopped by. In addition to all the racing action, a COVID-19 vaccination pop-up clinic was held on-site. The crew from Newport/Glover EMS were incredibly happy with the number of vaccinations they were able to administer. Our sincerest thanks to each of you that stepped up and took advantage of the opportunity. It will take all of us to get thru this and getting ourselves vaccinated for each other is the biggest step we can take to get there.

The first feature winners of the season for the F.M.S. NAPA Auto Parts of Bradford VT were Jeff Huntington in the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds; Thomas Placey in the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes; USAC DMA Midgets Will Hull;

Brian Bigue thru the luck of draw looked like he was going to be the first winner of the 2021 season in the Sabil & Sons DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds. A late-race bobble would wee him sitting in turn one having to restart deep in the pack. Jeff Huntington would be the one to capitalize on Bigue’s misfortune taking the lead with five to go crossing the line first just ahead of last year’s champion Jason Gray. Richie Simmons came across the line in the final victory lane spot with Robert Tucker and Jordan Fornwalt crossing in fourth and fifth.

A first lap caution put Thomas Placey on the point for the restart in the Wells River Chevrolet DIRTcar Sportsman Coupes, and when the checkers waved Placey was still on point taking the checkers first. Cody Gregoropoulos finished close on his tail but was unable to set a serious challenge for the lead. Tim Martin had a very impressive finish coming home in third with Josh Harrington and last year’s champion Tad Kingsbury coming home in fifth.

Will Hull took over the lead on a restart on lap seven, and from there it was all Hull as he cruised on for the first win of the season. Teammate Seth Carlson and last year’s champion came home in second with Brandon Piastka taking third. Joe Krawiec and Justin Sheridan finished out the top five.

Matt Piper get the win in the C.A. Miller Limited Late Models. Todd Dunham crossed the line second with Mark Cole coming home in third. A post-race inspection disqualified Dunham moving Cole up to second and Tyler Tremblay up to third. Rob Rugg and Jason Porter rounded out the top five.

Jesse Dunham grabs the win in the LaValley Building Supply Dirt Stocks with Lucas Wheller and Troy Prentice finishing in second and third. Mike Mann and Sid “Bud” Sweet rounding out the top five.

Zach Audet comes out of the gate a winner in the Peanuts Auto LLC Four Cylinders, with Bobby Bell and Kevin LaForest joining him in victory lane. Jason Porter and Garrett Brown completed the top five.

Coming up this Saturday, May 15th it is the DIRTcar Sportsman East Series second event. The event sponsored by VP Racing and Sabil and Sons will see the winner taking home $1,400.00 and everyone taking the green a minimum $150.00. This will be a special 42 lap event, the number randomly picked by our sponsor. This is a SPECIAL ADMISSION show with adults, teens and seniors at $15.00.

Remember in today’s society we could all use a little more family entertainment, and the Ridge is your best place to be for just that. The admission price is more than reasonable; the show top-notch, the food superior, and the family-friendly atmosphere is just what you are looking for. Please note that any and all COVID-19 safety requirements will be enforced at the Ridge. Current state regulations will require a face mask and social distancing at all times. Tickets can once again be purchased at the front gate, and a simple yes/no survey stating if you have been vaccinated or not will be conducted at front gate. 2020 saw us thru following the requirements diligently, able to race on a weekly basis. Safety for all IS our FIRST concern. If you are not well or have been recently exposed, we expect you to stay home, to help us keep everyone safe. This is about ALL of us not each of us, and we are NOT out of the woods yet. We sincerely appreciate your cooperation and working with us, to be able to provide the best place for your entertainment, while keeping everyone safe!

Tune in to hear April May and Butch as they join Stephen John for all the highlights of Bear Ridge Speedway from the week before and what is coming up every Friday morning from 6:30 to 7:00 on WYKR.

The price of a regular show general admission (front gate) ticket for adults (ages 17 to 61) is $12.00 a person and children 11 and under $2.00. Teens 12 to 16 and seniors 62 and older is $10.00. Military Discounts are available at $2.00 off for those with a valid ID. The back gate (pit gate) ticket price for Bear Ridge Speedway and DIRTcar 2021 license holders is $30.00. Non-license holders are $35.00 (both prices include the front gate ticket.)

Bear Ridge Speedway is as an alcohol-free family-friendly entertainment spot, with our goal to make each experience at the Ridge better than the last. We continue to offer the best source of good inexpensive high-quality entertainment for families.

Please stay safe, be kind to others and wear your mask!
