Woody Pitkat, Stan Mertz Racing Look to Get Back on Track at Star Speedway With Tri Track

WHITINSVILLE, Mass. — After a tough day at Stafford Motor Speedway on Friday, May 14, Stan Mertz Racing and driver Woody Pitkat are looking to rebound in their next event. The team will make the trip to Epping, New Hampshire this Saturday, May 22, to compete in the second race of the Tri Track Open Modified Series season.

Pitkat and Mertz opened the Tri Track season with a solid seventh-place finish at Monadnock Speedway on May 1, and will look to build on that effort in their quest for the title. The team did not start the Star Speedway race last year due to a mechanical failure, but will look to avoid those gremlins and come away with the $6,000 check at Star.

“We had a quick turnaround for Star and I’d like to run well there, Bobby Webber is a good friend of mine and he supports me,” Pitkat said. “I’d like to go up there and give Bobby and our entire Stan Mertz team and sponsors a good showing.”

Sponsors of the team include Twisted Tea, Truly Hard Seltzer, Axis Engineering Group, Black and White Grille (Spencer, MA), TowBoatUS, Cape Towing & Salvage, J&S Motors, Pomfret Wine & Spirits, Mike Holmes & Son Excavating, Earnest Performance Shocks & Kenneth Blackmer Transport.

Saturday’s race day schedule includes one practice session from 11:50-12:50 p.m., with qualifying heats set to roll just after 2:30 p.m. The Prelude To SBM X Star 100 should take the green flag around 6 p.m. For those who can’t make it to the track, the race will air live on Speed51.TV.
